Scoring Winger

Lucic is a thug, I just called him gutless.
Would have called a black guy the same for the same infraction.
People called Ference a thug on this board.

I have heard the term thug used during the John Scott/Kessell incident a lot. don't really pay attention to it that much but can't imagine that was the only time it was used for a white guy.
Patty Kane isn't really a thug because he is such a little baby.

Buff just looks overweight and lazy, black or white.

AO got a lot of grief for his hot dogging antics (burning stick as an example).
The Canadian junior players were criticized for the jersey popping they did around 3-5 years ago after goals.
Is there another player that acts like Subban and gets away with it because they are white?

Yeah hard to call a wimpy little greaser like Patrick Kane a thug. You have to be at least somewhat intimidating.

I don't see any difference between what Subban does and what any forward doing windmills and jumping into the glass after goals is doing.

And when they do that they tend to get criticism as well.
People say act like you have scored before all the time and comment about it about white guys acting like idiots not just Subban.

Well sometimes, but Subban got a lot of grief for his "attitude" when others do the exact same thing. When others do it, someone might tell them to act like they've scored before, it doesn't become a lingering narrative.

You don't think it has become a narrative with Yakupov?
Although he may be a minority so perhaps that is more racism?

That might be the multiple fight with teammates in practise too. Maybe, I dunno.

I didn't say it doesn't happen with any other player. It's not a hard line where only racial players are criticized. So I'm not sure what your angle is here.
I feel that if Subban was white, a lot of the "attitude" talk wouldn't be there. That's my honest belief. If you don't feel that way, that's fine. It's ok to disagree.
Buff I don't agree it's racial ... Kane, I dunno, but when people are talking about his haircut and getting all up in arms when he poses with money (when no one did the same for Commodore) it's "funny"

My angle here is that I don't see another guy acting like Subban and getting away with it because he is white.
Subban seems to get criticism for doing a lot of things that white guys get criticism for so I am finding it hard to see how the criticism is because he is black and not because he acts like a dick.

If Subban was white he'd still be criticized he just wouldn't be in Proteau's article. Honestly Proteau reminds me of brick from Anchor Man "LOUD NOISES"
He's always got to be controversial. Always, whether he thinks he's right or not

Anything to keep us divided and fighting amongst each other while bankers take over the world.
Imagine the power of the people if we weren't so divided and oppressed and manipulated and surrounded by propaganda.

I have criticized Yakupov for his ridiculous cellies, but honestly, I had no idea he was black

While I don't think Proteau is necessarily wrong, this article can best be described as lazy... This is a valid topic for discussion, and giving it such bare-minimum surface treatment does both the Hockey News and the issue a tremendous disservice.
One pull quote from Kevin Weekes with some reaction? That's it?
Evander Kane has it in him to be the next dominant power forward in this league. PK Subban will be dueling for Norris trophies for the next decade. Maybe it's just the age of the internet, but these two specifically engender more animosity for no real reason than most other NHL players.
