Great song choice, love the vintage Metallica.

By that logic, might as well fire everyone, set a camera with a wide angle lens up on a tripod and let it run for the game. Hell, Don Cherry's salary for a season would cover this guy for a decade, so why don't they just use that money.

I for one, appreciate the value I get for my tax dollars with the CBC (not just HNIC), and I know that Canada would be a lesser place if it wasn't around.

Great Montage.

I did not care much for the song, but I love these vids because many of the shots really capture the intensity of the playoffs.

I noticed that this montage also used some of the same audio as last years I.e bob cole saying "this is so exciting I wish it could go on forever"

Best hockey montage I have ever seen. Will be hard to beat. Granted I am a Metallica fan, so I might be a bit biased because of the music.

Guess you don't have much experience in production/video editing...there's probably 20-40 hours of editing time there.

Add to the fact that there's a video montage, perhaps not as long as this one, for each GAME...and you've probably got an overworked taxpayer employee who does an amazing job. Know how much it would cost the CBC to outsource this? I suspect your reaction would be akin to this:

You know what's scarier? There's probably a TEAM of taxpayer employees at HNIC.

Source: It's what I do.

When you phrase it like that, of course it sounds stupid.

How about this?

"Let's hire a full time employee to do something awesome before every game to get our audience fired up and emotionally invested in the broadcast."

They better goddamn pony up the coin, those cheap ####s.

Cool video, love the balance of recent history and heritage.

Also, it's the worst when people try to politicize everything.

Forty hours for a train that was supposed to arrive every twenty-four!
It had derailed one country back and new track had to be laid. It was extremely inconvenient for us stuck in a station but much worse for the folks stuck on the train with no food or water.
Typical travel in Africa, though.
Luckily I had Hemingway to remind me I could be fighting fascists.

You realize the phrase is a quote from a book published in 1624, I hope, and not a recent movie, song, or novel.
