Murray "why don't you ask the Oilers, the might do something dumb"

What I'm saying is, if both GMs like different players then why would they trade? If they like the same guy, why would Burke make the trade?

Why would Burke freely give out that information? Yes it makes no sense to trade in the above situation but that situation is dependent on there being no information gap between the two parties and in that situation only one party could be compelled to create the gap. I think the more likely exchange is thus...
Murray: "Hey Burkie! We'd be interested in moving up a slot, interested?"
Burke: "Maybe, but I'd need to know who you intend to take first"
Murray: "we totally want that Reinhart kid"
Burke: "... that's kind of who we were thinking of taking"
Murray "Oh, that's to bad, okey I just thought I'd ask, talk to you lat..."
Burke: "Hang on now... I'm not saying no yet, I like other guys too... make me an offer"
Murray: #2 Plus X & Y?
Burke: Make it #2 Plus Y & Z and I think I could do that.
Murray: "Yeah, I could do that"
Burke: Alright then we have a deal. *Hangs up Phone* "Sucker, I wanted Ekblad all along".

Take Ekblad or Reinhart.
Trading pick is crazy this team has quantity we need quality now and giving up the choice of who you get isn't worth an extra pick or two.

To me it depends on Bennett. Hes gonna be there at 3. If thats the guy you want, go ahead and trade down no lower than 3. If you want Ekblad or Reinhart, you gotta get them with that #1 pick because they wont be around after #2.

I like Table's scenario as well. If Florida covets Ekblad, of course. I would prefer either Sam over Ekblad.

assuming the standard order (Florida 2nd, us 4th) would anyone do a Baertschi + 2 2nds for Florida's pick?

If our first isn't involved, then yes.

I feel pretty confident that Burke would take Ekblad over any other player in this draft so I don't know if Bennett would matter. I tend to believe the Oilers would prefer Bennett over Reinhart who IMO is a little too similar to RNH and Bennett has more of an edge to his game and that seems to be something that team is missing with all their soft forwards.

I agree. If we win the lottery I would want to take Ekblad or Reinhart and run. I just know that some here seem to like Bennett as their top pick and that was maybe more for them. For me personally, if we win the #1 selection and take Bennett, I would be pretty dissapointed. I think we stand a chance to get him at #4 as it is (and I would still maybe take Dal Colle in that spot anyway).

Yes. It'd be close (I believe in Sven Baertschi) but ultimately I'd do it.

I'm still against taking a defenseman first overall. Take Reinhart and call it a day

While keeping our 4th?
No doubt, and I'm a huge Baertschi guy.

I think you have to be open to offers. I would be very intrigued with Florida as a trading partner. If you were able to get one of the Sam's and pick up a first in next years draft, why wouldn't you do that trade. You don't get an offer then you take the player.
I would definitely be open to a trade as long as it meant they stayed in the top 3 or 4 if the team overpaid.

Yes I would do that for sure.
Getting a top 3 pick while keeping ours would be great.

I do really wonder if on a Brian Burke team, there is room for Gaudreau and Baertschi on the left wing.

Better question yet, who would you rather keep? My answer is Gaudreau.

I think the Oilers draft order would be
1. Ekblad
2. Bennett
3. Draisaitl
4. Reinhart

I think there is, provided they are flanked by big bodies.
If Poirier knocks Baertschi back, it's over. I don't think he is valuable on the third line.
A third line of Poirier, Backlund and Colborne (assuming they are more talented above that) would be pretty incredible
