Need a lot more info with regards to what the team looks like next year, but without any significant changes I'm going with worse.

Agreed. If Hartley is back and Ramo/Ortio? provide decent goaltending we are too good and work too hard to slip any further down the standings. But not mature and talented enough to make a big gain - so about the same.

They were 10pts better than Edm, 11pts better than Fla, and 25pts better than Buf. Yeah it can get a lot worse

I said this in another thread but Florida will be better, Buffalo will not, Edmonton with steady goaltending should be better, Islanders with a healthy team is close to a playoff team, and Calgary should end up anywhere from 29th to 25th

Tank season next year I expect a minor improvement in standings due to several teams mysteriously forgetting how to play hockey.

There really is not enough information at this minute.

We "should" improve if everything is kept the same, but we don't know who's gone/staying.

Too soon this is better examined after the draft and free agent frenzy.

If we went with what we have right now minus free agents, worse.

Can't see us being worse than 27th with Florida Buffalo and Edmonton in the league.

The team may play worse but I don't see them picking higher next season given there will be a few teams with their eyes set picking 1st overall next season. There are always bad teams every season that fill out the bottom 5 but I would expect a small handful of truly terrible teams next year.

To me, there are a few key questions to ask on whether we will be better or worse next year:

1. Can we find one more top 4 dman (Brodie, Gio and Russell gives us 3)? Could be from farm team but I'd think about signing someone more defensive and trading Wideman. Always need extra dmen! See game 82's lineup for why!

2. Who is going to replace Cammi's scoring? I see it as we have two top 6 pairings: Colbourne-Monahan and Backlund-Hudler meaning that there are 2 spots in top 6 available. Likely one spot goes to whoever we draft in round 1 by halfway through the season. But still need someone else to step up from our farm team or a signee of the Hudler type.

3. Can goaltending remain league "average" at minimum? The flames will likely still be a low scoring team so key to doing better will be better defensive play or goaltending. I like Ramo's play in the second half and Ortio looked good in his 9 games but we all saw the Oilers absolutely bomb when their goaltending bombed to start the season. Counting on relatively inexperienced goalies is always a risk.

Overall, I'm betting on a slight improvement as I think Burke gets a few more pieces that are obvious holes in the lineup so that young players are fit in where they belong and have to earn their spots. Top 10 pick next season.

Everyone expects we will do better, so obviously we will do worse.

Assuming the GM makes the right moves, MUCH MUCH BETTER. Calgary and Winnipeg will both make the playoffs. The Oilers will come in last again.

I think they'll do worse. To be honest, I feel like they overachieved a bit this year. I don't expect it to happen again next year, but who knows.
