Never claimed to be.

I would fully expect to get my ass kicked after cheap-shotting Burrows in the teeth. And I would it take like the Joker laying on the floor in his interrogation room. Laughing hysterically.

Oh, really? You were trying to cleanly forecheck... when down multiple goals in the final minute of play and your teammate, Zach Kassian, already riding him into the wall? I'm sure it's just a coincidence that you came in high. You made zero effort to slow down at all when you clearly saw that the D-man was being taken out and there was an actual chance to go for the puck. But it was a clean forecheck. Yeah, right.
My thoughts as well on that hit. Vulnerable player, hits him high, doesn't care where the puck was.

Even if it wasn't deemed suspension-worthy by the NHL, it doesn't mean it wasn't a very, very cheap hit.

Frenchies stick together?

In all seriousness though, Resolute is right, why risk getting a player suspended for Alex Burrows? The Rangers are going to be in the playoffs while the Canucks are golfing.

Burrows is going to have all the time in the world to beat the crap out of teenage ballhockey players all summer, the Rags are going to want Carcillo available.

Not to mention that while Carcillo had the right idea, a huge suspension for murdering Burrows would have had a drastically negative effect on his career.

Everyone knows Burrows is a dirtbag and an agitator but since when does he have a history of dangerous plays that injure people? Biting a guy's hand probably isn't going to put him on the IR for six weeks; we're not talking Raffi Torres here. I think there needs to be a distinction between guys of the Sean Avery rat school of ######baggery and guys from the Matt Cooke school of limiting careers. And I guess guys of the Brad Marchand school of both, but those seem to be few and far between.

Also the hit wasn't even that bad. Yeah, high hit, penalty, but it wasn't an elbow, it was pretty much just hands riding up and hitting McDonagh in the head area. I don't get the "wasn't even trying to play the puck"... it's called hockey guys, you're allowed to go for the hit and ignore the puck when the guy you're hitting has it.

The only problem, 19Yzerman19, is that Burrows was coming in square from behind. He was aiming to hurt McDonagh. You can't really defend a guy for a supposed lack of history of dangerous plays when we are discussing a dangerous, predatory play.

I really enjoyed his fight with Getzlaf.

Acts like a tough guy when the linesman is between them. Getzlaf grabs him and pulls him away from the linesman. Burrows goes into survival mode and pulls the jersey over Getzlaf's head (no hair to pull). The linesman tells them to stop because Getzlaf is vulnerable, but Getzlaf just keeps swinging until Burrows is down.

I disagree with part of your assessment of what went on ... maybe I'm just an optimist. You can hear one linesman yell out to the other linesman to, "Let it go. Let it go." I have faith that is because the calling out linesman recognized that Getzlaf would eventually give Burrows a beatdown he deserves. I appreciate your fine work officials.

Yes, that's what happened eventually when the linesman saw Getzlaf wasn't being hampered by having his jersey over his head. #92 is yelling at them to stop, then #66 tells him to back out.

I love how happy Getzlaf looks at the end of that. He's just so pleased that he got to feed Burrows a few punches.

Doing the hockey gods work, Friar Getzlaf was.

Burrows is just choked that Getzlaf doesn't have any hair left that he can pull on.

Man that guy is a rat.
