seems so weird that someones feelings have a price tag. Without any evidence how does this guy win a civil suite?

so if no criminal charges have been pressed, what grounds does a civil lawsuit possibly have? CP lawyers please help.
also, the scum bag comment is pretty ridiculous. Kane went to Vegas and posed with his money, clearly a huge scum bag. In fact, any 20 year old kid with millions who is the star player of a national hockey league team is a huge scum bag if he likes to party. And therefore, we can deduct from his past scumbaggery that assault is not something out of character....

Sounds a lot like "intentional infliction of emotional distress", which a legal blogger I follow likes to call "butthurt in the first degree".

It is much easier to prove "fault" in a civil proceeding than it is to prove "guilt" in a criminal proceeding.
Who knows, buddy might just be angling for a nuisance settlement, part of which includes a confidentiality agreement (if this is done in BC/Canada).
He might look at this and think that Kane might be more interested in paying him $5000, and make this go away.

I should sue him for the disastrous fantasy season he put up for me. Hurt my feelings indeed.

Hockey players should be shown the Lucic video of him outside the club. Don't react or be threatening no matter what, unless someone is trying to hurt your child or mother I say just ignore the d-bags that many hockey players are bound to run into.

It has a lot more to do with skipping out on tabs then the Vegas pictures. The pictures are just a secondary piece of info on him.

He was cocky and had a bad attitude too while here with the Giants. I remember the fight that him and B Gallagher had after Kane told him he got with his sister just to prove a point. Wouldn't put it past him to do something like this. But with no proof....nothing the guy can do.

which you dont know if thats true or accurate or anything. Hell, he could have been in a bar and having randoms claim to be on his tab, which he would later refuse to pay, or have shady bartenders charging bottle service or something that he didnt order. There are a million scenarios in which Evander may not have been guilty whatsoever. Are club/bar/restaurant owners typically stand up/honest businessmen? Hard to say. For every young, famous athlete, there twice the number of people trying to somehow take advantage of him. I dont see how you can paint him as a scum bag based of rumors and stories and then try to extrapolate that it is therefore in his character to assault someone.

Kane and Vancouver are both no good.
Don't really care which way this goes cause either side is likely full of ####.

He's an immature, rich hockey player it is what it is. Get over it. Not sure why you would go out of your way to defend him. Lots of people that have dealt with him in person rarely have good things to say about him. That doesn't mean he's a bad person but he's simply very immature at this stage of his life.

"Insufficient evidence to support a criminal charge" does not mean "no evidence".

All the stories I've heard out of Winnipeg, are that Kane is a jerk outside the rink. I don't care. However, this year he has been playing like the jerk in NHL games (rushing in to the net without looking to see if any teammates are open, taking stupid penalties at the worst possible times, missing the net on his breaks).
Well at least he is exciting to watch and can fight with the best of them.

The cap/maximum award is on general damages, including, but not limited to, all pain and suffering.

Indeed. Just by looking at that picture I think we can safely rule "unprovoked" out of the claim.
