They probably don't care. They look pretty secure in their playoff position - not likely to catch the teams ahead of them, not likely to be caught by the teams behind them.
The NHL season ends a week earlier than the AHL season, so they'll get him back for the playoffs.

It's Corey Locke, it's an AHL contract. It's not good asset management, it's barely anything.

Breen isn't that good. Billins is in over his head.

Looks like Cundari is on the way:
Quote:
“We still gave up a few high-end scoring chances that we need to clean up before getting in the playoffs,” said defenseman Mark Cundari, who was recalled by the Calgary Flames after the game. “I’m sure it will sort itself out here.”

Maybe a team(s) are interested in Cundari and want to see what he can do at NHL level. Breen you have to figure this is the last look before they stick with him or cut him loose.

Agree to disagree.
With all of the injuries plaguing both the Flames and Heat, the Heat needed forwards, and they brought in a guy who has 20 points in 24 games without giving anything up.
Organizationally from a depth perspective, it was a good move.
Anyway, happy for Cundari, I hope he sees the ice next game.

Interesting, maybe Wotherspoon going back down to re-familiarize with the AHL team in time for the playoffs and just giving a bit of a look to some of the other assets here.

happy with the moves, greatly helps the heat, and there is a bit of a game that goes on with nhl gm's when your going to finish bottom 5. As the GM you ice a bad team and as the coach you get the maximum results. Dare i say we are slipping into tank mode by playing 3 tough guys and now breen and cundari.
Knowing Hartley this team will still probably find a way to win games down the stretch, he did it with cundari last year.

Flames asset management barely plays into this at all. Heat had too many defencemen, and Chicago needed one. AHL Heat made a swap. Heat give up and asset (Cundari) to acquire another (Locke). Flames did not give up anything, nor did they receive anything.
If the Flames were interested in Locke for the NHL, they could have offered him an NHL contract even though he was part of the Wolves without having to trade for him.

I'd like to think Burke and Bob want to troll the Canucks one more time at seasons end and ice as tough and as truculent a squad as possible.
Breen, Cundari, BVB all dress along with Grats, Westy, and Bouma.
Malarchuk will come out of retirement for one game and start in net.

Steinberg tweeting Wotherspoon could be done for the season with an injury.

Ah, lame. At least we got a good look at the kid, and he sure impressed me. Looks to have a solid future, looked pretty steady and calm for a young d-man.

No, no it is not.
I know you are being flippant, but that is disrespectful to our players and coaches. We are just getting a view of our assets while the pressure is off.
Anyone but Billins (ABB?) is ok with me.
