I wouldn't bet any money on that. The amount of young forwards that have overtaken him on the depth chart is stunning (Johnson, Palat, Killorn, Kucherov, Brown) ... arguably Namestnikov has overtaken him already as well and of course they have Drouin coming in.
Drouin - Stamkos - Callahan
Purcell - Filppula - Palat
Killorn - Johnson - Kucherov
Malone - Thompson - Brown
Namestnikov, Panik, Kunyk, Crombeen
Can't see Connolly win a job against those guys. Maybe there's a spot if Callahan doesn't re-sign with them, but even then I'd expect them to rather sign a UFA replacement. It's also telling that he hasn't been able to crack the lineup at all despite Jon Cooper being the head coach ... he coached Connolly in the AHL last season and knows him very well. If he doesn't think Connolly can crack the lineup by now, who knows ... the truth is that Connolly hasn't looked good in any recent call-up.

Connolly is the one IMO.
Has been surpassed by other youngsters in Tampa, And it will only be even more clear with Drouin joining the team next year.

Pirri was my choice early in the season. I had hoped that Burke would try and acquire that guy. Looked like he had talent but wasn't going to get a fair chance in Chicago.

I would love to get Connolly as well if Feaster ends up taking a center/left-wing/defenseman in the first round. As everyone knows we have a pretty huge hole on RW, so picking up a former top ten pick for 10 cents on the dollar would be a great addition.
I am sure other teams would be in on him, so maybe offer the Avalanche second rounder for him? Hopefully that would be enough for Tampa to movie him. The same could be said for some of the other players on the list (Vey, Smith-Pelly, maybe Morin), but many of those players could probably he had via the waiver wire soon enough.

Sureloss, with all the great threads that you've seen countless volumes of thanks and this thread only has 4. I logged in just to say thanks. Great angle man. JC has been a great find, actually all feasters 4th rounders have been players. Russle has been more valuable imo, but JC has more potential. He looks comfortable here and if he gets stronger he's gonna be a beast. TJ is a player, but a fringe guy right now who provides sold depth.
AS far as the ones you listed, It depends on price. Connolly is gonna be interesting due to the current depth as listed by Devo. Vey could be an interesting piece, if he were available for a 3rd? I am in, I don't think i do a 2nd.
The other RW options I would consider, but despres seems like a Smid light to me. So he seems a little redundant unless the price is right...Drew.
Morin and Panik could also be interesting if there are good values to be achieved, without giving anything on the current roster unless it was a bigger deal a la: Russel and Smid for Connolly and Panik, with offsetting picks...

I've got some interesting news for you... (Sorry, I couldn't help myself)
I was just thinking about it and I like the idea of doing this at the start of the 15-16 season, I think we have a lot of guys coming in next year and would actually prefer to see us maybe ship one or two prospects that aren't quite going to make it, out as we will have a lot of guys coming through.
That said, Connolly would be great if it were a cheap deal.

The Leaf-heads over at HF boards put this thread up today:
"Will the Leafs regret trading Joe Colborne?"
http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1631671
The comparisons to Clarkson @ $5.25 vs Colborne @ $.600 are pretty amusing. And how he's putting up great numbers with Calgary because they are a lottery team, and wouldn't be able to do the same with an elite team .aka the Leafs.

It's like they don't realize he's 24 and improving.

The Blackhawks look like the team to target, in my opinion. They don't have a load of cap space to play with & they have several prospects to sign. Jeremy Morin is an RFA & could be the odd one out. He would be a good acquisition for the Flames.

No to Ferraro. I don't care how good he gets, I know his family very well and I have met him a few times. He is a "me-first I'm so awesome and special" kind of person and we don't need a guy like that on our team. He very much takes after his father in that regard, who doesn't make any effort to visit his home town which is loaded with his family, and many friends he grew up with. I want absolutely no part in any Ferraro coming to Calgary.

Really, I think the guys name will be Mr. Rightplaceatherighttime. Just no way you can single out a player like that. Joe was a reclamation project that panned out. Most don't.

Connolly would look really good on Gaudreau's other wing.

I don't disagree with any of the three or four names that are continuously popping up on this thread, but the one that I would target is Devante Smith Pelley. If you look at who we will have on the left side, this is the guy that can come in and make room for them with physical play, and not look out of place anywhere in the top 9 RW. It's true that anyone picked up in a similar situation to Colbourne would have to stay with the club, and DSP didn't look out of place on a very deep Anaheim team.
