Yeah, don't think so. Higgins doesn't strike me as that type of guy.

Disappointing... I wanted McGrattan to pound this guy until he cried.
McGrattan needed somebody new, Sesito never wins.

I absolutely hate Kassian. He represents EXACTLY what the Canucks are.

The guy seems to have the IQ of a peanut. Sooner or later, some guy is going to seek retribution for his past indiscretions, or somebody will be on the ice for one of the future ones. He is cheap and stupid - won't last long in this league if he keeps this up.

It's for guys like this that the flames need to keep McGrattan around for the rebuild. McGrattan would tune this punk up without breaking a sweat.

There is no way Kassian would fight McGrattan. I actually thought Kassian was a much better fighter, but I think Jackman got the close decision (I think) against him late last year (or was it earlier this year??).
Besides, Sestitso would just run interference by asking McGrattan to continue with another session of his face-lift.

I was actually surprised that the Flames didn't claim McLaren off waivers with Westgarth going down, and Burke wanting to have 2 guys in the lineup. Kind of waste except for the odd occasion like a Canucks game.

Should have been gone for the season. That could have easily been career ending or at least season ending for Dillon.
I'm sure meathead won't learn either. After all, he threw his helmet down the ice as he was leaving. The guy has no clue and WILL do it again.

Apparently, the league has no clue either. Garrett was completely quiet after it happened. I'm surprised he didn't accuse Dillon of embellishing. That would be right up his alley.

Brutal hit, should've been suspended more games.

If this suspension will correct Kassian's behavior going forward then I don't mind the 3 games. At least it puts him on the short list for a longer suspension if it happens again. But I doubt he'll change much. From the games I've seen him play, he doesn't even look like much of an effective player. How long do players like this last in the NHL?

Could be anything , honestly. He is a Canuck so that is defiantly not out the question.

i was listening to this game on satellite radio last night and the stars announcers were calling for 10 games to start.
 i don't know that it is 10 games or not...but it sure isn't 3.

on the one camera angle, it looks like he leaves his skates to deliver the hit as well.

with these sorts of decisions, i can only imagine that the league doesn't want to remove hits like this from the game.

It won't serve as a deterrent though, that's the problem.
Heck, if the league continues to serve out little slaps on the wrist, I really wouldn't mind him getting suckered good sometime. I know two wrongs don't make a right, but players and teams around the league take note of that garbage and they won't want their players at risk when that goof is on the ice.

He's the same guy who broke Gagner's jaw with a blatent high stick, which looked looked like a 'swing it around after I hit him and see if I connect.' Then he asks him next time they play how his jaw is feeling, as he points to his own jaw, while Gagner is still wearing the jaw guard.

 Classless, dirty #####.

both teams lost the trade to this point

Hodgson has 16 goals, cap hit of 4.2m, and his defense failures (being one of the worst defensive centers in hockey) have been well documented

Kassian has 11 goals, but at least his cap hit is 900k

plus no interference from his father behind the scenes

that right now is an F on both sides

lots to agree with your post.

one of the problems that i have is the whole "even it up" thing. we are 10 years on from the steve moore incident and the nhl still hasn't learned. the problem with "even it up" is that it has to escalate on the ice...and how do you escalate that hit? same thing happened with moore. whether the non hit on naslund was or wasn't suspendable, a suspension may have taken alot of the anger out of the equation. maybe not. however, when a long fine has been given, we haven't really seen retribution on ice because the league did its job.

all players must be protected...even players that deliver hits like this. i just don't understand the nhl and nhlpa's philosophies on this. can you imagine a worksite where the union doesn't protect its members by mistakes from another union member, and management says...there, there...take a couple of days off. i just don't get it. why don't these two bodies work together to protect the assets...which are the players.

won't go to olympics in case someone gets hurt...but please continue to check from behind into the boards. makes no sense.
