Having worked at a Brewery when I was a student, I wouldn't touch a beer bottle. You would not believe the kinds of things I've seen in beer bottled that have made it through the filler.

That's because of high acidity reacting to the metal. This is why restaurants only store foods like Tomatoes, pepper s etc in lexan container's. What your tasting is the batch actually spoiling a little. That's why canned beer has a selfe life of 3 to 6 months. Glass is the way to go. As a home brewer some of my high gravity stouts and barley wine cannot be kegged and must be botteled as they can take up to a year or more. Ideally beer should there kept for 9 months to up to a year and a half. The swell on self's are average 2 to 3 weeks old whick leaves a lot of active yeast . you take that yoing of a beer withe the reaction to the metal .. Yikes. The yeast will multiple the bacteria's effect dramatically. And then that's the sour taste you end up with. Beer shouldn't even leave the primary fermenter within that time .

If it's a decent beer company that uses a liner, canned beer should taste as good or better than bottled since it's completely blocked from light. I like holding a bottle better than holding a can, but I'd go for the canned version if both are available and I'm pouring it into a glass anyway.

I think most people only think they prefer the taste of bottled beer since it's traditionally been higher quality to start with and they usually only buy cans of swill for outdoor activities. If people try a few cans of Fat Tire, I think their perceptions would change quickly.

When is the last time you saw a liner in a can? Fat tire is OK for an amber ale. Would not call it Belgium style at all . A can of it is worst then a bottle. People don't think it's better just because it is traditional. Its chemiste with the metal. If companies are selling it when it is only 3 weeks old and to your belly an extra 5 days later, It does not even have enough time for light to effect it. Most the time its boxed up in a cooler truck to the store then in to a fridge. The beer DOEs sit in a metal vat to a metel can or metal to glass. Glass beer still has a metal taste but dose not sit in a can during the extra week.

Bottle for taste, can for convenience.

Many microbreweries are switching to cans, but I don't think many of them utilize both. So, I go with whichever they use. Both go in a proper glass either way.

Don't really prefer one either way, but think I would instinctively go for bottles.

Prefer bottles anytime except when camping or doing anything else outdoors

I like it in the bottle, but I can pretty much quadruple the beer-holding capacity of my beer fridge if I buy it in cans.

I don't like the feeling of the can on my mouth though. Better to poor into a glass.

Doesn't really matter to me, but it so happens that a lot of the beers I like come in bottles.

Chilled glass.

Unless after hockey or during a round of golf, then a can is just fine

Bottle. I always find that when you compare beer of the same brand from a bottle and a can, the bottle always tastes better. I love Kokanee in a bottle. But in a can, I can't stand the taste for some reason.

Bottles also look cooler, and don't make that weird slurp sound that cans do. And after a huge house party, I always like to observe how much alcohol got drank and I get a much more satisfactory ''that was a great night'' feeling after seeing bottles everywhere.

I'll drink canned beer but I'd prefer not to drink it directly from the can.

Draught>Bottle>Can ... like, I assume, most.

Normally bottles, but I also like the taste of beer on tall cans (500 ml). I have been seeing more tall cans in the market than ever before.

I can quadruple-fist bottles but only double-fist cans.

But saying that, I usually buy cans because there's more in them. I may be the odd-girl out, but I don't care for drinking beer out of a glass.
