Seems like an unlikely fear... the only folk who do that are people in contention because they have to keep the UFA's to remain competative... I could however see Burke having to sell low and for all his bluster when he canned Feaster using the press conference to try and absolve himself of blame.

1. Trade deadlines are not the time to acquire players.
2. Teams get stupid and over pay for marginal players.
3. I won't mortgage the future for today.
4. I don't expect us to be busy.
5. If there's something worth considering that will make our team better today and
works from a contract perspective, we'll look at it.

Of course it is - but why tell people they are making a huge mistake, right before negotiating that mistake with them?
How about saying nothing?

I love how some critique him for doing this, and others worry. The media outlets want to get him to speak, because we want to hear from him. So he's obliging. He might give us an update on his feel for the market and what might happen, but as others pointed out, this is something he committed to doing, to be available to the fan base at this time, so it's likely not a damage control measure given it was likely planned a while ago.

Whats the over/under on whether or not his tie is done up?

Because saying GM's make mistakes isn't going to stop any GM's from making said mistakes.
He isn't hurting his trade position at all by saying that. Just speaking the truth. Which is what I assume fans want to hear from Burke.

That's just silly. Clearly it won't be. Better question, is what type of events does Burke feel that doing up his tie is appropriate. It's clearly not anything public, so maybe it's when he's actually negotiating behind closed doors with agents?..... I really have no idea.

You really need a tv feed to watch him say he has nothing to say?
