I think Jay would actually make a good TV personality. Glad to see he's found some NHL work as regardless of what you think of his work as GM he's a pretty good guy.

If he'd just would have kept quiet he would have been considered a decent GM. It was all the fanfare and stupid terminology that killed him.

Yes, he made some massive mistakes, but if it wasn't for the constant talking we did this and that and this and bla bla bla it would have passed a lot more quietly than it did.

Oh yea, grats on the new job. More talking

He has been on before, and actually did a pretty good job. I think it was for free agent frenzy though. Ripped the Brian Cambell contract (?) I think

I'll admit it takes balls, Flames could very well trade Cammalleri et al for better returns than he received last year for Iginla and Bouwmeester, and he's going to have to talk about anything the Flames do.

Here's Sportsnet crew... again.. be hard to not get on the air it appears:

Quote:
Main Set Panel: Setting up all the action for the day, host Daren Millard guides viewers through the day alongside Marty McSorley, Damien Cox and Billy Jaffe
Insiders Panel: Host Christine Simpson referees the powerhouse panel featuring leading trade-breakers Nick Kypreos, John Shannon, Scott Morrison, Mark Spector, Chris Johnston, and Brad May
Strategy Room: Sparks will fly as host Jeff Marek discusses and debates all of the trades with former NHL general managers Brian Lawton, Doug MacLean, and former players Theo Fleury, Marty Turco, Keith Primeau, Brad May, P.J. Stock, Kevin Weekes (also of NHL Network) and Team Canada’s Women’s Hockey head coach Kevin Dineen
The Goalie Book with Marty Turco: Kypreos and Turco head to Wendel Clark’s private arena to analyze and discuss the different styles of some of the goalies still on the trading block
Canucks Panel: Host Don Taylor and current analyst Garry Valk discuss the always controversial Vancouver Canucks
Puck Daddy meets Stellicktricity: Back by popular demand, Greg Wyshynski is joined by Gord Stellick for a healthy dose of entertaining and witty analysis throughout the day
CHL Panel: Sam Cosentino and RJ Broadhead analyze the depth of prospects in both the CHL and AHL for each Canadian NHL team

Jay's a pretty smart guy and I'm looking forward to hearing what he has to say. I hope they ask him lots of questions about the Flames and events that lead up to the rebuild. It'll be nice to (hopefully) get some behind-the-scenes answers regarding the club.

I think Darryl put it best, "I wish I got paid to lie or make stuff up. That’d be great."

between all of these sports stations there will likely be 7 to 800 analysts, experts and insiders on TV talking about deals.....too bad TDD is never on a weekend.

Looking at that list of panelists and insiders made me wonder how many of them I could slap in a single swat.

Excluding Mackenzie of course.

ha, I think Darryl does just fine making up a few lies here or there over his career. It might not be in his job description, he might not get paid for it but he manages to fire off a couple throughout a season.

I'm interested to hear what Jay has to say during the TD show. I wonder what his views on Flames trades will be!?

Jay will play it straight and will get a lot of press time. He was a very good interview.

He would be a good GM in a non-hockey market and I hope he gets another gig.

I can hardly wait to hear what Theo has to say.

I may PVR the session as I'll be at work.

Good for Jay. He may have been in over his head in the job here, may have been a yes-man or fundamentally misjudged where the team was at but he did seem like a honest to goodness nice guy. He was always super excited with the prospects, went out of his way to be accessible, tried his damnedest to be open and honest with the fans, and didn't speak ill of the dead or anyone really for that matter (besides those jabronis up in the 'chuk).

Maybe that type of personality didn't make him the best GM but he seemed like a nice guy who deserves to land on his feet.

Oh sure, he'd feed us bull and often do just the opposite but any good poker player would do the same. He wasn't hired to report the truth, he was hired to make the playoffs.

Since this is where this thread is heading, I'll put a stop to it right here.

He wasn't. He was a bad GM.

If you think he is competent enough to manage in the NHL again, fine. Put your money where your mouth is. $100 dollar wager, I bet that he will not be a full fledged NHL GM (non-acting) within the next 3 years (I'll put a timeline on this so I can actually collect).

If you think he was worth something, step up then, take your free money when he gets hired on into a GM role. I'm sure at least one of the 30 franchises will see your POV and offer him a contract and see the 'genius' of Jay Feaster, right?
