Seems I remember an incident years ago regarding the suits Canadian skiers used in downhill competitions. Illegal material (read: too little wind resistance) and there were disqualifications. Of course my memory is not what it used to be.

That's a lot of questions without a single question mark.
The reason Canada did not wear the more aerodynamic pants is because we are trying harder NOT to have our Olympians disqualified for cheating.

I think it's already a bit too much this way in certain sports. Bobsleigh technology and ski/board waxing seemed to have a big effect on some of the competitions.

Could've plead ignorance and said that they waited until NBC showed the event and thus had 22 hours.
Hope they win this...especially if the French made the alterations after they passed originally.

If I was racing in that event, I would have modified my pants to add a poop chute.

Vicki Hall @vickihallch
According to Le Parisien, Canada's appeal rejected. France gold, silver, bronze in skicross upheld. #pantsgate
Vicki Hall @vickihallch
According to Cdn sources, appeal was rejected not basis of missing 15 minute window to file protest. No ruling on pants themselves.

Alpine Canada's Dave Ellis on #pantsgate: “It’s just unfortunate people were able to push the rules to this level,”

If Backstrom can get kicked out of the gold medal game for taking allergy medicine, then certainly altering pants is a viable argument...
