I'm still not convinced I like them as the home set, but I sure do miss seeing the retros as our 3rd.
The current 3rd is cursed, and it doesn't offer a significant change over the jerseys we have. At least the retros pop more with the white instead of black.

I still want my retro Baertschi jersey. Except we'll have to see what number he's going to wear because of the stupid no high numbers ridiculousness.

"Retro", or the real Calgary Flames colours as I like to call them, should be the defining feature of every aesthetic aspect of the team. Not just the jerseys, but banners, advertisments, whatever else. The whole mish mash of terrible jersey designs, alternate logos, weird fonts, alternate colours -- they only serve to dishonour the team and create a mockery of their brand.
And I know I will get jumped all over for saying this -- but if you look like a joke of a team, you will be a joke of a team. The organization needs to set a standard and the entire look and feel of the uniforms and brand is part of it.

Worst jersey in the league by a long, long stretch.

Nothing's worse than Buffalo's monstrosity.
Furthermore, any jersey without piping automatically > any jersey with piping.

I was under the impression they only had the 3 jerseys to wear this year. Can they pull out the retros just randomly like that?

I believe the NHL allows teams to have 4 different uniform sets in a season: Home, Away, Alternate, and Retro.

Surely you jest.
Interesting though that even the players don't mind mentioning that they like that jersey best.

Just go forward with the retro jerseys full time as they are by far the best of the bunch. The 3rd jerseys should be banished from the face of the earth.

It's no coincidence that the franchises with the most consitent success are those that keep their brand simple, consistent, and appreciate by majority of the fanbase.

Correlation does not equal causation.
There are many teams with simple, consistent and appreciated brands that consistently failed as well. Toronto being the most obvious example. Detroit, Chicago and the Rangers all had multi-decade periods of futility. Meanwhile, the Ducks have won a Cup and been to the finals in the last decade, and are poised for another long run this year. And three words that would never define their look is "simple", "consistent" and "appreciated".
