First time watching a non-Canada game in this tournament.
Goodness gracious is European hockey a sissy sport. There is literally zero body contact. The body check doesn't exist. Sure there's a pins to the boards on the cycle but defensemen never have to worry about getting hit by a forechecker.
D-men have to be very good at reading plays and keeping position and this Slovakia-Slovenia game is not river hockey - it's actually very defensive but my goodness it's a different game they play across the ocean.
It's no wonder Euro refs are so incompetent - they aren't used to hockey being a contact sport.

I still wouldn't want to play Slovakia in the play-in round. They could pull off an upset.

Should add that the wide ice surface probably is a huge factor - you can't get pulled out of position making a hit...it's really too bad though that European hockey is played on a different ice surface as it completely changes the game and frankly #######izes it.
Hockey is meant to be a fast paced game that requires quick decision making, where you can expect to get hit, and where a shot from anywhere is dangerous.
Yeesh.

Drolet moves on to the semifinal! Pretty neat story with her coming back out of retirement after so long.

Slovakia gets one from Tomas Jurco with 17 sec remaining. And that's game. 3-1 Slovenia.

So cool to see Slovenia win!
Hard to believe Slovakia is winless so far, they still have to play the Russians too. Might be a rough round robin for the Slovaks. I don't really understand it either, Hossa, Chara, Halak, that should be enough in my mind. Thats why the play the games though!

Can the Slovaks get relegated with another loss? Or does that not happen in this tournament?
