How do you move a player with a no movement clause... you make him feel unwelcome and alienated. Maybe that is what Burke is doing, if the above rumors are true.

Or he might be trying to put some (dare I say) truckulence in Glencross's future play.

I hope and doubt that - that's how this organization conducts its business.

I know Glencross is the latest whipping boy but it would be best for everyone that he stays with the Flames and just plays better.

effective 40 pt player, and a character guy on the cheap, can never have too many of those.
I agree his contract isn't really killing the team but is it really helping? If the goal of the team is to stay the same then ya, keeping him should be the goal. As for bumping Stempniak out of the top 6, if either of those guys are in our top 6 then we won't have that competitive of a team to begin with.

I know I get ragged on for wanting to trade everyone, but at the same time there are people here who want to keep everyone. The team is not good. Glencross has more value in a trade than he does on this team, and I honestly think that in the few games that he's played he's been a bit lazy and counter productive.

If you want this team to improve, then it needs to change.

Chances are the "rumour" is complete bs. But if your theory was how Burke chose to conduct himself, then he would need to be fired yesterday.

He called out Sven did he not? I'm speculating that he might have said uncomplimentary things about him as well in private, prior to the public denouncement.

I dont see Burke as a nurturing coddler. He calls it as he sees it right wrong or indifferent. I believe he wants to build this team his way, bleeding hearts be damned.
It is all about productivity and accountability. Like JiriHrdina says Glencross needs to play better.
Glencross has been with the Flames 5 years or so and is 31 years old. Time for him to be the player he can be.

And chances are, you are right, and the rumour is BS.

Jeez, some things get completely overblown on this site!

This makes much more sense. Years ago when Burke was GM of Vancouver my friend and his young son met Burke in Whistler. My friends son was wearing a tattered jersey and talked to Burke about how much he loved the Canucks. 4 weeks later my friends son recieved in the mail, a new jersey, a puck, a banner, and calendar.

I get that posters think Burke is surley 24 hours a day, but its not true. Just look what he makes his players do for volunteer work and also what he does. If you really think that he treats fans like garbage, then you are out to lunch. Also when players get bashed in the media, Burke is the first to come to their defence.

She said she is a Theo fan first, but her current favourite Flame is Glencross and that she plans to buy his jersey. Burke apparently told her "don't waste your money."
What does this mean? Your guess is as good as ours. Either he's not long for this team, simply not in the long-term plans, or not a good enough player to warrant a fan to wear his jersey. Whichever way you look at it, Burke doesn't seem sold on good ol' Scoreface.
Take it for what it's worth - but it wouldn't surprise me to see him moved (somehow) at the deadline or draft.
Theo is obviously coming out of retirement. DO IT BURKE

Clearly Burke had run a credit report on her and knew it would just be repo'd anyways

Sure. If Burke thinks tactically a harsh comment will help encourage a player to step up and improve, he's shown he will do it.

But if your assertion that Burke might be trying to alienate a player to encourage him to waive an NTC has even the slightest shred of truth, then Burke needs to be gone. That kind of behaviour spreads through the league fast. But I very much doubt that is the case.

You can have too many of those if that's all you have and they're expected to be the offensive catalyst of the team.

I like Glencross and I like his contract. It's likely that a lot of GM's around the league also like him and his contract. The team has done about as well with him in the lineup as without him. He's a 3rd line winger playing a top line role. On a good team he could be a real asset on the ice. For the Flames he could be a great trade asset. If the team can move him for a good, young player or for a highish draft pick I think they should.

Glen-who? Maybe he'll be back just in time to get another injury if he isn't traded. How 'bout 2015 1st rounder plus future consideration. Get'er done Burke.

that's why you can't have too many, we agree on this thing, you just don't know it yet.

and when russel has a dry spell, and he surely will, his contract will still have been a good one to have signed. just as glencross' is now.

How do you motivate him to play better?

His inconsistancy drives me nuts and i'm sure the coaching staff.

That's who glencross always was. It's why he was traded twice, and why he was a marginal prospect.

Even when he put up good numbers, he always went through dry stretches. He was a healthy scratch even during his career years in Calgary.

If he was consistent he would be making 5M right now, and likely playing somewhere else.

All that said, he is still valuable to the flames. He can score, he can hit, he can irritate. I think he can be Burke's favorite player on this team. He just has to be motivated to play his best hockey.
