uhh, yeah. There's no real statement here. Just a lame attempt to steal someone else's trademark for easy publicity.

Would be neat if it was an actual parody, rather than just someone parodying the name, putting "dumb" in front of all the titles as a pure publicity stunt.

I would have gone with 'Fake Starbucks' but I'm no expert in parody law.

When they first started, they had two sizes, short and tall. A short (8 oz) or tall (12 oz) today is still the same size it was is 1977. They still have both of these, but have added the new sizes to them. People wanted bigger sizes, so rather than renaming their original two sizes, they added the grande (16 oz) choice. At this point you had short, tall and grande. Grande, of course, is Italian for big. Now people wanted even more liquid in their cups, so they added a 20 oz size called venti. This is Italian for 20, and thus matches the number of ounces in the cup. In a few test stores they've added a trenta, which is Italian for 30, which matches the number of ounces in the cup. So now they have five sizes. If you called tall/grande/venti small/medium/large what do you call the short and trenta? Are they extra small and extra large? You want grande to be called medium, but at one point it was the largest size. Shouldn't it then be called large to reflect your logic? Should it have changed once the new large size was brought in? If they had called it large, and then brought the two bigger sizes they'd have short, tall, large, extra large and extra extra large? It doesn't make sense to rename something that has been ordered by millions of people, multiple times.
Now it was probably short sighted of the original owners to not foresee the company having over 20,000 stores in over 60 countries and becoming a publicly traded company. If they knew that, they might have named it slightly differently. Or maybe they wanted to be unique and not just do what everyone else was doing. Maybe little idiosyncrasies like the sizes draw people in. Maybe when people complain how hard or dumb it is to figure out what size they want, they are still getting to people to talk about the coffee, and that brings people into the stores. Whatever it is, it's working.
Small, medium and large are sizes that are more widely recognized in the English language, but they also have origins from foreign languages.

It seems everytime Starbucks is mentioned here people complain about their sizing titles.
I don't fully get it. Do you same people complain about people calling things Iced Capps, Egg McMuffins, Teen Burger, etc.

Here is a photo that we took in the West Bank a few weeks ago. They did change the logo though so I suppose it is okay.

No, it would be nice to walk into a coffee shop for a large coffee, see a size that means large, and not be given the 2nd smallest coffee they have.

Your choice in coffee is as bad as the team you cheer for. It doesn't matter if you frequent a few different places, the fact is, if you go here, you're stupid, because the coffee tastes burnt, or it tastes like swill, or the names of their sizes are stupid, or their commercials try to instill national pride. Doesn't really matter which, the point is that you're stupid. I think "Dumb Starbucks" is aptly named.

Apparently it was some sort of art project/comedy project for Nathan Fielder.
Oh and it was shut down by the Health officials for not having the proper permits.

Their example is wrong. Weird Al gets permission to use songs. He had verbal permission from Prince, wrote the whole song, recorded it, and then Prince refused to give written permission, so he had to scrap the song.

I thought that was more Weird Al policy then actual law? I recall he had written permission from some one at Coolio's label for Amish Paradise but hadn't actually spoken with Coolio, when the track came out Coolio wasn't happy. So now Al makes a policy of talking direct to artist in all cases.
I believe the Prince thing is more of a "feel free to perform it in concert, but don't release a studio version" or something along those lines.... Not that I'm a closet Weird Al fan.

It is to be absolutely 100% sure there is no lawsuit. Some are pissed off at Weird Al for not pushing the envelope with artists that turn him down. He *should* have fair use rights and it should stand up in court, but he's not going to take that risk.
Lady Gaga granted permission to use "Born This Way", but when she heard the lyrics she refused to let him release it on his album. So he released it for free. If there is no money being made, she can't sue him. After it was spread across the internet, she relented.

He does as far as I know. Released an album in 2010.
edit: a quick google will find a recent interview where he talks about his next album as being his last...last that is on his current contract. He will then move to digital distribution of his work.
