Yeah, this doesn't excite me at all. No one that has played in these leagues has come over and done much, we have seen it first hand with the KHL, which is a better league. Almost hope the rumour isnt true because it will be a waste of a roster spot.

To me, it looks like Burke wants to have some legit power forwards in the system, especially after Ferland got injured. I'd be okay with that, not to mention that David Wolf sounds amazing.

The examples are few but there are some successes:
Ville Leino
Damien Brunner
Michael Raffl

Some more smoke to this rumor, but I am hearing Wolf attended a Leafs development camp a few years ago. If true there is your Burke connection.

If Wolf does sign with #Flames do they draft Leon Draisaitl in June? Both big, both forwards. Size matters.

Bring em on over. If nothing else he should be able to help Abby for a season or two.
Plus as WastedYouth said, I love the name. Why do some Germans have such cool names, and others horrible? It is either Sturm or HAZENWOZILDORFINZURG

Found a report from Wolf's time at the Leafs camp in 2012:
http://mapleleafshotstove.com/2012/0...-observations/
Quote:
David Wolf is 6’2 and nearly 220 pounds, he played in the German league last year throwing up 35 points in 46 games while accumulating 167 PIMs in the process. He was older than many of the other players at camp, but he did everything you could ask of a player in his position to make an impression. He got in a fight, he finished every check, was consistently battling and getting dirty in the corners and even showed the occasional offensive flash. Here’s a situation where it’s just unfortunate that the Leafs aren’t in a prospect tournament, because I’m sure the Toronto brass would like to take a look at him in game situations.

Hmm if Feaster was doing something like this we would all be rolling our eyes and mocking him for "best player outside of etc etc"

Not really. Cervenka was advertised as a 1/2C, and was very disappointing in that capacity. This guy sounds like he's a 3/4 line winger with some grit to his game. As long as Burke doesn't try to convince us he's a future top-liner I'm fine with it.

If this is true I hope this signals the end of Kevin Westgarth's tenure with the Flames. Wolf could take his place on the 4th line.
The bottom 6 would look alright as such:
Bouma - Stajan - Jones
Wolf - Knight - McGrattan

And I'd defend Feaster for doing it... so I'll hypothetically (cause it's still just a rumor) defend Burke for doing it too... these are exactly the type of "free" lotto tickets a rebuilding team like the Flames ought to be picking up. Worst case scenario is that he just replaces David Eddy in the ECHL.

Has anyone made the 'Most Truculent Player outside the NHL' joke yet?

I think this would be a good signing if it happened. It would be an ELC because of his age and he would be waiver exempt in year one. I think it is unlikely he would step right into the NHL, so a year in the AHL and then potentially fighting for a roster spot in year 2 would be ideal.

I don't think we "all' would do that". Just the usual crowd that does that type of thing.
CP doesn't have one collective opinion.

Maybe Wolf turns into a Lance Bouma 2.0
Great defensive game, can hit, fight, and hold his own in ALL 3 ZONES.
I'd love a 3rd/4th line of Wolf, Bouma, and a shutdown Centre.

The only reason some people make that joke is because Feaster actually SAYS "best player outside of etc etc".
So uh, no, different situation entirely.

It's worth a gamble. The worst thing it could do is improve the Heat.

Wolf-Knight-Bouma would be an interesting 3rd line. Big, hard, can also add secondary scoring.
