He is a heart and soul guy that give 100% every shift. I think he could really develop into an elite 3rd line guy that can provide offense and energy. Not to mention he is a shot blocking machine. At least we realize the potential with him, and haven't pretty well gave him away for free like we did with Prust.

This guy is going to be a huge part of a Stanley Cup run one year. He's got the grit and character that wins you games.

Since his stint in the 2011-'12 season I thought he would be the perfect replacement for Tim Jackman.
Glad to see his surgery didn't hold him back, I was worried it might. Plays an important role we really haven't seen since Stephane Yelle.

He's our new Prust but bigger. I love this guy too. Every team needs a Bouma. I'm glad we have him.

If it was up to me he would have a spot on the Flames 3rd/4th line for the next 10 years.

I will reiterate my observations and comments from the Flames Oilers game I attended at Rexall last month. This was the game that we won in OT on Hudler's goal.
Bouma took a couple of runs at Yakupov, and while he missed, he sure made a big noise hitting the glass. Yakupov disappeared. The crowd chatter had two themes with Bouma:
1) Took Yakupov right out of the game; and
2) How they wanted to get Bouma into an Oilers jersey.
Opposing fans are noticing the guy as well. Hell of a player,. I'm hoping we sign him to a 3 year $5,000,000 (total) contract.

Bouma is one of the best at the type of role he plays in the league. You need smash mouth type guys like this to get under the skin of the other teams. When Burke talks about truculence, Lance Bouma is the type of guy he is talking about. Someone that can play adequately and be a big pain in the butt for the opposition.
If the Flames can acquire another couple Lance Bouma types (Poirier seems to be of a similar mold, although with a lot more offensive skill) we will be better off in the long run as we come through the rebuild. Tim Harrison plays a similar style of game, which is why I have been high on him.
I can't wait to see what these young kids are all capable of once they get an opportunity in the NHL. We might be seeing the foundation of a contending team starting to get built.

Sutter did not leave this franchise empty handed. Backlund, Bouma, Brodie all appear to be players to keep around during the rebuild. On top of that there is still plenty of reason to think Reinhart will be a NHLer. Arnold, Ferland, Ortio are all intriguing prospects drafted under Sutter

Always liked him. So much so he is my crested jersey. Any other Bouma jerseys out there?

Must be a funny guy in the room too. When him and Grats came out in the sumo suits on after hours I was laughing pretty hard.

Bouma has been a pleasure to watch this season, his work ethic, and effort has been exactly what the team needs, and is a the exact kind of attitude the team needs to emulate. Great guy to build around.
I would like to see Burke get Kruger out of Chicago, having him Centre Bouma on the 3rd line would make for a tough line to play against. Kruger is great in the faceoff circle, and like Bouma, will put his body infront of anything to keep it away from the net.

I also like Marcus. Maybe Cammalleri + B Centerman Prospect for Kruger?

When Burke talks about getting bigger and more truculent this is the type of guy he is talking about...
Bouma isn't huge but he plays a big game in blocking shots, hitting, skating hard and has enough skill too offensively punish the opposition as well.

I think Lance Bouma has ended up being exactly what we hoped Lance Bouma would be.

What I'm starting to really love about this team is that the young players are starting to step up and establish leadership.
The Bouma's Brodie's and Backlunds (killer B's?)
The Monahan's The Colbornes and the Russell's
You want to know why I feel good about this rebuild, its because unlike in another Northern city, our younger guys are driving this team to its work ethic, not running from it.
If the next group that's in the hopper and have been drafted with character in mind continue this, this rebuild will be quicker and more fun then we think.

And they weren't all surefire stars. Still a ways to go, but these guys will be sprinkled throughout the lineup which is the big problem up north where they no depth amongst the younger players.

As much disappointment as I had in Sven's development, or lack thereof, Hartleyhas am done a great job with the development of Bouma, Backklund, colburne, brodie, monahan .
even russell looks to have established himself as a regular NHL player.
it would come as no surprise to see BOuma wear a letter on his jersey at some point

Which other players are included in the Backlunds beside Mikael and who are you grouping in with Joe to form The Colbornes?
