Many americans in Seattle, Detroit, Buffalo and states near the border are very happy about the CBC having the Olympics again. They can see live coverage instead of tape delayed events 17 hours old.

We truly are lucky in Canada to have such awesome coverage for the Olympics... The live TV coverage, the online options for viewing... Every two years the Olympics truly takes over my life... I could not imagine having to wait for prime time coverage like viewers in the US have to.

The idea of "primetime" is so outdated. What fuddy duddy wants to wait a whole day to watch something when they already know the score? It's all about being live. I can't believe NBC hasn't figured this out yet.

This is truly where CBC shines...their iPad alone is awesome. I'm going to be spending some heavy one on one time with this thing over the next couple of weeks.

Viewers in the states are jealous.

Every two years my life is consumed by the Olympic games thanks in large part to the amazing amount of coverage provided by our networks. It's simply awesome how much content we get as Canadians. Live streams have been revolutionary.

I also live in australia and looking to watch the games…..instead of 3am I'm hoping to watch it later. Does CBC replay full events? it would be great to watch the game at another time than 3am…although the trick will be getting the feed going without seeing any score.

too bad NHL Game Center picked up the feeds

Ya, you can re-watch an entire event.

Can anyone confirm who is the voice for Canadian Olympic hockey this go round? I think it was Chris Cuthbert for 2010.

For the Canada games I'm guessing it will be Jim Hughson since those will be on CBC

Does NBC have any live coverage, even for the hockey tournament? They should be embarrassed to show everything on tape-delay in this day and age.

I love this quote from the article:

Quote:
CBC offers live material but only after midnight and into the late morning.
So by only they mean comprehensive coverage pretty much from start to beginning? How can they "only" offer that?

That is a great link worth. The red areas are cable companies that have the CBC and/or SRC on their cable lineup. Some areas within 250 km of the border can get the CBC with HD antennas.

I have driven in the states of Oregon and Idaho where there are plenty of residents and businesses that have Bell and Shaw Direct satellite dishes. The same thing happens all over the USA.

Gord Miller and Peter Loubardias called other mens' hockey games too in 2010.

Both links have been updated. There are two days where two games will be happening simultaneously and there will not be constant canadian coverage to both games.

Tomorrow morning at 1000h Mountain time, the Latvia-Switzerland game will not be fully televised. This afternoon, it was decided that Sportsnet One will televise the Czech Republic-Sweden game in its entirety.

The simultaneous games on Thursday and Friday mornings were already scheduled to be televised. The CBC schedule shows that there has been no decision yet for the Saturday games but both will be on Sportsnet One and TSN. For the Sunday games, the schedule shows one game will be on Sportsnet.

Update: Arsenal14 has the online link and the simultaneous mens' hockey games not on network channels will be available live online. It is ironic that in the USA, all the mens' games are being televised on NBC's cable channels.

It's actually pretty easy - bookmark the "Watch Online" page and go directly there. http://olympics.cbc.ca/online-listing/index.html

The UK channels I get will have the opening ceremonies but pretty limited coverage of the events I want to see. CBC does of great job of putting everything online along with daily updates and analysis. Focuses on Canadian althletes and, as far as I can tell, shows every event.

For anyone interested, I did about 2.5 minutes of research then downloaded HideMyAss. Paid something like 10USD for the month of February. You can choose from a pretty huge list of IP locations (4 in Canada). Started watching the slopestyle and moguls qualifying on CBC.
Yeah, my research has led me to HideMyAss as well. I'm glad they have monthly subscriptions vs. buying for a whole year.

The coverage here in Australia is ok. We usually get the live coverage at night because we're 7 hours ahead (in Sydney anyway), and then during the day time is the events that happened the previous night (however I'm at work).

I've managed to watch all the Canadian medal events so far except for the short-track speed skating one. I just want to watch the Canadian Hockey.
