I wonder how many times kipper thought about doing this when he kept us in games we had no business being in and we still couldn't score

Yes, a leave of absence will certainly make Lowe a less horrible hockey executive. All kinds of delusion going on up there.

My guess is Katz is trying to demonstrate his loyalty to Lowe. What I don't understand is what reaction he expects here. Does anyone think the fans will just respond with "well, okay then" and return to being docile?

More surprised they didn't say he was taking a leave of absence than having him show up in disguise every day.

Maybe Katz only bought the Oilers because he was seeking vengeance against Lowe and MacTavish and plans on shaming them by forcing them to run the Oilers for the rest of their lives.

Apparently Katz also said the fans' opinion doesn't matter in regards to the situation. Just to add fuel to the fire.

Its staring to get rowdy in Oil town.

I love how even this move shows the arrogance and cognitive dissonance of Lowe.

Lowe thinks he's being magnanimous, but instead of offering to resign due to the terrible state of the team he simply offers to take a paid vacation for a little while and then come back. Apparently the Oiler fan base will be hit with a sudden bout of amnesia* during the sabbatical.

* He didn't get out of the cockadoodie organization!

Fan opinion does matter as fans are causing the rest of edmonton to chip in a cool 480 million, with ground being broken in March.

There is only one way this is headed, with Katz and Lowe barracaded in their office while all of Chuckville decends on them with knives and pitchforks.

Basically a recreation of the Alamo, but with a lot more mullets, sweatpants, and dress shoes.

Either stay or quit. Offering to take a sabbatical doesn't do much of anything. It's not like Oiler fans will forgive him and be happy to have him back in the fold at a later date.

If he really is trying to help out that organization he would just pack up his bags and quit today.

I was reading this letter that lowe sent to oilers season ticket holders a few years ago here https://www.facebook.com/Lowemustgo/...?stream_ref=10
and thinking again, how is this one of the lead player evaluators for team canada? The guy has no clue how to appraise talent and worse, can't look at his own players objectively.

On the one hand I never want him to leave, on the other seeing that arrogant ###### get his pink slip would be epically satisfying.

I can't believe MacLean and Healy are actually that dim, you'd think after so many years they'd finally realize how downright awful the Oilers management team is at every level they'd change their tone. 12 more years of this garbage... ugh. At least guys like Ward and Johnson realize how pitiful the Oilers are.

What makes MacTavish such a good manager anyway? At least Lowe has a track record of sorts you could use to say he's accomplished something in his career as an executive (as little as that was). MacTavish has done absolutely nothing this year after promising big changes, and that's he's an "impatient guy". The Oilers have obvious problems and yet all he's done is pickup fourth liners and backup goalies. How is that any indication he's good at his job? Oh that's right he has an MBA... I forgot. There's a reason MacT couldn't find any other coaching gigs in the NHL, just like with Feaster when he came here. If tanking yet again makes him a great GM, then they should have just kept Tambellini as he was the authority on the subject.

I am really hoping someone PVR'd that segment.

Lowe - "I'd like to take a leave of absence from the team, step away and recharge the old batteries, I mean it always takes a lot of work to completely destroy something. I'll come back at the draft when we pick number one and start hyping the fans for you"

Katz - "How can you do this to the team, the players and me"

Lowe - "Sir I think its for the be. . . "

Katz - "You know this is going to leave us one short in the twister tournament at this Friday's pajama party."

Lowe - "I do like going a$$ to head with Eakins sir"

Katz - "request denied"

Pats Lowe on the a$$

Katz - "Now get back to work you scamp"
