No one on the Flames roster is currently on the untouchable list. Everyone can be expendable given the right price. I have to agree that Bouma of all players are hard to replace. That guy is like a Stephan Yelle.
Not sure why some of you are so high on Baertschi. If the right price came along, he'd be traded in a heartbeat. Most likely, if a second round pick offer and something else in a package, I betcha that he'll be unloaded.

Seriously? Are you expecting a lot of shootouts, or something?

Well Sven is untouchable in that, we shouldn't trade him for vets or guys who can help now since there would be no point. And even if we would trade him for
A: Draft Picks - Whats the point, might as well keep him cause unless its top 5, would be the same crapshoot.
B: Prospects - Who would trade better prospects for our worse prospect?
So might as well keep and see how he pans out.

I wouldn't like to see Gio traded but the other two would be fine as long as we got value and size back.

These threads are useless. If you ask who you would be willing to trade and not willing to trade given a realistic trade, then you can make a small list.
Everyon's definition of untouchable is different.
I would trade anyone except Monohan, Gio, and first rounders if a reasonable trade offer was made. To get the above, an unreasonable offer would have to be made.

Totally agree, and to me that's what an untouchable is; a player that can't be replaced for his role by another player (assuming other GM isn't going full ###### Crosby for Stajan).
Baertschi being untouchable mostly makes sense because he has no value right now and isn't really costing Calgary anything to keep him.

Zero untouchables. Better answer is to listen to everything.
Why limit your choices? People seem to think trading Monahan would necessarily be for some spare parts junk like at the end of the Sutter era.
If our first gets you something crazy like Claude Giroux you wouldn't take it?

I am good with trading anyone on the team if it brings back the appropriate value.
Would think you would keep Monahan unless the value was way over the top (ala BN's thoughts on Giroux).

I'd like to see this team stop giving away/giving up on NHL'ers that they drafted and/or developed.

define 'untouchables'. i will include all electrical outlets!
frankly, i would agree with many posters here on Money, Gio, 14 first and 15 first...well...add some attributes here: potentials, marketing, face of the franchise, leadership, stability etc...
i know what happened after we traded Ference last time.....some times we can trade player for heart or vice versa.
sensitive!

Who are your Flames untouchables and/or Burkes? I say we limit the answers to players on professional contracts. (NTC/NMC are not a factor in the decision)
For me:
Monahan - no brainer
Brodie - best young d
Gio - team leader
Baertschi - too early to give up on
There are players like Russell, Backlund, Bouma, Colborne and Hudler who I think are only going to be moved in the right deal but I still think they can be had.
What do you think?
(Save the Sven hate for another thread plz - I know he is struggling and everyone is frustrated but I've heard enough! Its fine if you don't think he is untouchable but I don't want this discussion to centralize around his struggles and everyones opinion on it)
Sorry if there is already a thread like this, given Burkes comments lately it got me thinking...

I agree with this 100%.
I wouldn't give up on any of these guys. We have to at least see Gaudreau in a Flames uniform before we can say he will be a bust.
If in 2 seasons from now we still don't see significant improvement from Baertschi and Gaudreau (I know that we might not get Gaudreau until 2015) then can consider moving those two.
I would through Bouma into this group as well, he will only get better.

That's it. We're the 3rd worst team in the NHL. We shouldn't have too many untouchables.
