Here is the site to pledge money to the cause.
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ca...mal-abuse-fund
Since the fund is at close to 50K, I think they are looking for other ways to spend the money since a reward of 50K is quite a bit.
Hopefully they catch the person who did this soon.

I heard the portion not used for the reward will be put towards trying to get that stricter legislation through.

The reward has been capped at $20k, which would be the largest reward ever issued in Canada for an animal abuse case.
The Calgary Humane Society executed a search warrant six days ago with the support of CPS. I hope it was fruitful.

Yeah, we heard about the search warrant - but then nothing. They said they were keeping the location private to prevent vigilante justice.

They've pressed charges.
Quote:
A 19-year-old man is facing animal abuse charges in connection to incidents where a dog and cat were found dead in the same Calgary alley with their mouths taped shut in January.
Both animals were found in an alley in the 200 block of 99th Avenue S.E.
A necropsy determined the Siberian husky had died of starvation while the cat had been strangled after suffering “multiple traumatic injuries” to its head, tail and limbs.
After a the lengthy investigation by the Calgary Humane Society’s protection and investigations department, Nicolino Ivano Camardi was charged with two counts of wilfully causing unnecessary pain suffering or injury to an animal.
News reports of the animals’ deaths prompted calls for tougher penalties for animal abusers. A local vet raised thousands of dollars for a reward leading to an arrest in the case.

Good to see, usually when a person gets sadistic pleasure out of animal torture, you worry that they'll move on the humans at some point.

Glad they got the guy, here's to hoping he doesn't get just a slap on the wrist like some ban from owning animals for a period of time.

Turning him into a human corn dog (hey, Stampede is coming) by impaling him up the ass on a cel phone tower seems like an appropriate punishment.

I have no doubts he won't get the proper punishment for the crime, our criminal code is a joke when it comes to animal abuse.
When an 18 year old kid in Didsbury gets 2 years probation for running over a dog and then dragging it behind his car with a tow rope, I just don't have any faith in the criminal code.
I'm not asking for much, I just want this 19 year old starved to death and I want to drag the kid from Didsbury behind my car for a while and see how well he keeps up.... is that so wrong?

Is there any chance this guy gets more than a slap on the wrist? I thought recently, maybe even due to this case they were going to up the punishments for abuse cases.

Tape his mouth and nose shut and see how long he lasts.
I hate reading this stuff in the morning. Makes me want to rush home and hug my dog for a few hours.

Psychopath signs
I hope he does not proceed further down the path to .....humans.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruelty...ical_disorders
Psychological disorders
One of the known warning signs of certain psychopathologies, including antisocial personality disorder, also known as psychopathic personality disorder, is a history of torturing pets and small animals, a behavior known as zoosadism. According to the New York Times, "[t]he FBI has found that a history of cruelty to animals is one of the traits that regularly appears in its computer records of serial rapists and murderers, and the standard diagnostic and treatment manual for psychiatric and emotional disorders lists cruelty to animals a diagnostic criterion for conduct disorders.[77] "A survey of psychiatric patients who had repeatedly tortured dogs and cats found all of them had high levels of aggression toward people as well, including one patient who had murdered a young boy."[77]Robert K. Ressler, an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's behavioral sciences unit, studied serial killers and noted,"Murderers like this (Jeffrey Dahmer) very often start out by killing and torturing animals as kids."[78]
Cruelty to animals is one of the three components of the Macdonald triad, indicators of violent antisocial behavior in children and adolescents. According to the studies used to form this model, cruelty to animals is a common (but not universal) behavior in children and adolescents who grow up to become serial killers and other violent criminals.
It has also been found that children who are cruel to animals have often witnessed or been victims of abuse themselves.[79] In two separate studies cited by the Humane Society of the United States roughly one-third of families suffering from domestic abuse indicated that at least one child had hurt or killed a pet.[80]

According to CBC, he faces other charges as well...
"He is expected to also appear in court next week for other charges against him, which include threats to cause death or bodily harm, unlawful confinement and breach of probation in connection with a separate incident in March."
