I'm not so sure Scrivens is that much of an upgrade on Dubnyk. Have to wait and see how he plays behind their non-existant defense

But... upgrading goaltending doesn't help you lose....

I'm not sure Scrivens is a big upgrade on Doobie anyways.

Now if MacT can pull off a miracle & trade Eberle or RNH + 1st pick for a real #1 defenceman the Oilers might start getting traction next season!

Darryl Sutter effect here with Scrivens. Scrivens is decent but seems like he's only a marginal upgrade over Dubnyk and the to get him the Oilers had to give up a 3rd round pick as well as accept Hendricks contract in the process. This could work out and this could blow up in MacT's face. Time will tell.

I don't think these were bad moves from the Oilers perspective. They had to try something.

A third round pick from EDM is like a late second round pick.

Poor Mrs. Scrivens

Jenny Scrivens ‏@JenScrivs 15 Dec
@TastyGardener Exactly! I paid my dues with 3 years in Toronto and 4 in New York. And I will never complain about weather again. Ever.

Fixed. Alberta boy or not, going from California to Siberia is not a good place to be. Ask Pancakes Penner.

It is after all Ben Scrivens not a cup winning goaltender like Cam Ward.

Good trade. Scrivens is a heck of a goaltender imo.

Dub+3rd for Hendricks+Scrivens is not that bad other than taking on the Hendricks contract

God I hate Eklund. He always reports trades on Twitter 2-3 minutes after TSN. Today has been no different. See the pattern every time? Like clockwork. Eklund probably follows the heavyweights and then re-reports using HootSuite or something. So lame.

I would say their goalie swap is going to be pretty lateral, as pointed out already it's the defense that is dismal; not the goaltending

this must be the masterplan: reunite the players that made Eakins look like a good coach, add them to the Oilers' core: SOMETHING SPECIAL!

So Edmonton dealt a third round pick and picked up a useless player for four years in exchange for three months of Scrivens before he goes UFA. All this when their best case scenario is finishing 28th overall.

If they don't get him under contract, this sequence of deals is a disaster.
