Toews with a beauty. Hall and Hopkins looked like jr players there. They got embarrassed.

Edmonton has looked disinterested all night... This core needs to be blown up, you cannot show up in the house of the reigning champs and be this out of it. I don't care how much you may or may not like the coach. These are players who are not committed to greatness. They are part of the problem at this point and need to be moved.

Wow, the Stars must be glad they don't play the Isles again this year...

Who's the genius that had Hall, Hopkins and Yakupov on the ice at the same time?

Those three couldn't spell defence for the life of them.

Glad the Sabres won, they're now just 5 points behind us with 1 game in hand.

Blame their mothers for raising a bunch of illiterate fools then. At some point, the blame has to fall at the feet of these coach-killing, underperforming, overrated hack frauds.

Special's the word, alright. It's code for ######ed. Which literally means delayed. Which implies they're going to catch up at some point. Which they're not.

The blame should fall to Kevin Lowe, Steve Tambellini, and the rest of those who ran the organization from 2009 through last season - and who, for the most part, still are in charge - for utterly failing to develop their prospects into NHL-level players. Such a waste of talent.

Gentlemen, this is what happens when you use the hockey news as your scouting department.

You might as well put prospects names on the back of bubble hockey players and hold a tournament.

Lowe - "Oh my god Hall spun around three times and scored, we need to draft him."
Scout - "But he doesn't come back to his own end to backcheck"
Lowe - "Its slot hockey none of the forwards can do that, but that's how the Oilers play hockey yo"

The majority of the blame absolutely falls on the administration.

But at this point, Hall, Eberle, RNH and to a lesser extent Yakupov, have attitudes and habits that are part of the problem. Three of them have massive contracts that make them feel invincible and entitled. If they traded three of those four, they would get back the talent they need AND they'd destroy the cancerous culture that's festering around that team.

Oh they scored a goal! Guess they can call it a night, right boys?

Does anyone think that if Jonathan Toews scored that goal he'd have some laid back self-satisfied smile on his face fist-pumping his teammates? Or would he look like he'd cut your throat with a bowie knife because you were in the way of his victory?

The Isles have been excellent lately ... 8-2-0 in their last 10. The Vanek-Tavares-Okposo line has been pretty awesome - Tavares has 17 points (7+10), Vanek has 14 points (2+10) and Okposo has 13 points (8+5) over that 10 game span. "Only" six points out of the playoffs right now - that's just going to show you how weak the East has been this year.

In my opinion, those attitudes and entitlements could've been prevented by surrounding the young players with good veteran leadership and a hard-working atmosphere. Tambellini kept a bunch of lazy floaters around for the sake of getting higher draft picks, but didn't consider how their attitude could rub off on the kids. Effort can't be turned on and off like a faucet - especially when you get paid the same either way.

I agree. So, all should be traded?

I'd keep Hall, and choose between Nugent-Hopkins and this year's first-rounder - keep the pick if you think you can get a better center than RNH, and trade it if you don't.

Eberle and Yakupov should be goners for sure.

Honestly I think you keep Yakupov over the others simply because he's the only one who's yet to be told his poop doesn't stink. Eberle Hall and RNH have been assured they're god's gift to hockey. Yak still has to work for his ice time, and he's got the potential to be one of the best finishers in the game.

Also, you could actually get him on a bridge deal when his contract expires. Make him earn that $50 million deal.
