This seems like a really odd thread to choose to take a stand against people who are leery of drafting Russians.

On what planet is Grigorenko worth a lottery pick or Baertschi for that matter?

Regier's handling of Grigorenko, even though the kid has a bad attitude, is one of the reasons I don't think I'd want him as the GM in Calgary.

To be fair the Sabres have utterly botched their handling of Grigorenko. It's a crappy situation for all

Earth.
And I didn't say worth I said that is what it would take for Buffalo to move him to the Flames. I certainly don't make the 1st round pick deal, but think about Baertschi. The Sabres aren't trading him for Cammy and Butler or Stempniak. They are rebuilding like us and are only going to want top level young talent.
Do you really think they are giving up on the guy and trading him for 5 cents on the dollar now?

Well, it's not about playing in Buffalo. It's playing in Quebec.

Buffalo is in last place in the league and rebuilding.
Why do they want a 31 year old Glncross who is 1.5 years away from UFA and has basically stated how much he loves playing in Alberta and has no desire to leave it?
Seems like he would do just enough to make their draft picks lower and then leave once they started to turn the corner.

Well actually, I'm kind of curious what their options are now with Grigorenko, from a CBA perspective, what they do with his rights/contract

He is 19 so they have a ton of years of control over him and theorectically with the NHL/KHL agreement that isn't an option either.
They may have to drop from a Baertschi who he is right now equal to to a slightly less seasoned prospect but they aren't going to move him for 30+ guys with limited time left on their deals. It makes more sense to keep him and hope he comes to his senses.
