If it was into his heart it was probably MRSA which is a seriously dangerous infection. The chances of him returning to 100% could be compromised. Sorry to hear this news.

What did I get wrong?
You understand that this and "his time as NHL prospect are done" are completely different statements?

I have some familiarity with the community resistance charts in that area (worked many years in the southeast michigan hospital system). If this infection was picked up in Windsor (thought I read that earlier in the thread?), good chance it was MRSA. The infectious disease protocols where I worked was to empirically treat community acquired infections as MRSA, even before sensitivity labs came back. The terrifying thing is that in that area, it could even be worse. The first ever documented case of VRSA (MRSA with turbo and nitrous) is from an area hospital.

Sure, he's in Calgary because his career is over.

Have just a little bit of patience before you go and poop yourself.

Edit: Also, we are not going to speculate over whether or not Pat has some some sort of weird super staff infection.

I watched my mother deal with trigeminal neuralgia, I wouldn't wish that condition on anyone. What is the prognosis on a staph infection in the heart? Any long term lingering side effects?

he apparently made a very good early impression on Troy Ward before this devastating injury.

Ward mentioned this on the radio on Monday

Yikes, so the infection was due to an ingrown hair on his stomach? Is that a common occurrence? It sounds almost like a freak incident.
