Necrobump. Just got dinged for talking on my cell at a light. Anyone have an idea on how much 3 demerits will affect insurance rates.

It depends whether or not you insurance company pulls your abstract on renewal. If they do, you'll see a bump based on the conviction and not the demerits. If they don't pull an abstract, it stays the same or drops.

The cost for each by itself is pretty much a 50/50 split of the premium.
I'm up to $3,072 for the same vehicles, but added a house onto the policy.

Geez, I'm sure a good agent could get my business (i.e. pm me ;-), I'm sure I pay way too much.

February renewal
2 drivers (grid -15, -8) No at fault claims, ever.
2 vehicles (08 mazda3, 00 LX470)
And we pay $2,350/yr for Auto and then another $2,200 for the house.

Oh, yeah, add another ~$400/year for the bike i just bought.

$78 a month for a 2004 Cavalier, liability only. Went up from $57 a month to $78 a month when I changed my address from Airdrie to Calgary a couple weeks ago.

$98.50 a month for home insurance.

I just bought a 2014 Chevy Sonic, and got insurance with Aviva for $1800. I'm also only 24.

Asking what people pay for auto insurance or even home insurance is an unfair question.
There are so many factors at play, tickets, accidents and even right down to the 6 digit postal code. you can have 2 people with the same car, drive the same distance to work, same driving record and live in 2 different part of the city and have to completely different premiums. Where you live plays a part in insurance as well.
When you compare insurance companies, be sure you are looking at apples to apples before you start to change things.

Does anyone know if the new insurance offered from ASET is any good? We used to be with them when they had TD Molleche Monnex, but they aren't partnered with them anymore, and I suspect my rates are now a lot higher than they should be.

2500 for 3 cars. One is a classic car so it's only 350 or so.

So did everyone else's insurance rates get jacked this year? Just got my renewal from Meloche, and I'm paying nearly 15% more for no apparent reason.

I got dinged last year with Monnex but that could be attributed to a change of address. Rates went down a few percent this year and a few days ago they sent me a 100 dollar cheque likely because they are hemorrhaging members. I'll have to take a look at the competition again and see if switching is worthwhile.

Home? Auto?

I'll assume home as that appears to be the most common and all forms of property insurance have seen an increase over previous years.
