Nice to see that Granlund talked to the media without a translator

Odd comments by Hartley, almost implying Backlund should play through his minor injury

Default Granlund recalled from Abbotsford

That adds a bit of excitement. To me, this is the first call-up of a guy who may actually have a future with the Flames that we haven't seen before.

Hopefully he performs well, though I imagine he'll have a hard go of it on the 4th line, but who knows!

Really? It sounded like the exact opposite to me? Like "Hey if he really wants to go he can go, but there is no reason to play based on where we're at and who we have in the pipeline".

Seems like you might just be diggin' for trouble.

It was this part that made it sound like a mixed message to me, but yeah probably reading too much into it

How many players aren’t playing at 100 per cent right now? If it would be the case, we might be short of players basically every game.

I wonder if it's more like, "well, might as well see what Granlund has to offer." Give Backlund a "maintenance" game.

He sounds Oileresque. We aren't the Oilers organization Hartley.

I think there is a trade brewing, but that Granlund is involved and we want to show him off in an NHL game. Backlund happens to be banged up so he is the guy who sits.

If there was an extra forward around I would agree.. but without Granlund up it would be Smith or Breen playing forward if Backlund or someone else can't go.

I don't think so unless someone is willing to overpay greatly for somewhat of an unproven player.

Im guessing (could easily be wrong) Granlund gets a taste for his play. Knight will get his call-up once Stajan is traded at the deadline.

Can Knight even be sent back or would he have to clear waivers?

So happy for Granlund. He's a great kid.

I'll admit I never thought he'd translate to the North American game, but he's proven me wrong and then some. He's been the Heat's most consistent player all season long. His stick skills and one-on-one moves are something that no other prospect has except for Gaudreau.

Please lord I hope he gets in tonight.

Knight isn't eligible for waivers yet. He's a rookie pro.

He could be a secondary player in the transaction, like Horak in the Smid trade.

Burke did say he liked granlund way back when the rookie tourny was going on. Or was it preseason? Hahaa.

It's more of a cup of tea... Is he playing center for the heat? Or is he playing more wing? If he's replacing backs then I would assume center

I'm just waiting for Burke to trade away someone like Backlund for some big dumb oaf from Toronto.

That's what you got out of it?

I am not saying its wrong but I am regularly impressed with how people can see the exact same words completely different than each other.

Even if Backlund is in, they should sit Jones and put Granlund on the wing with Hudler and Colborne

Knight is waiver exempt on his ELC, but even those players who require waivers (who have already cleared during the current season) can be recalled and spend a total of 30 days on an NHL roster or play 10 NHL games before they need to clear waivers again.

Too bad it's either/or, and I like Backlund, but I'm hoping his injury nags for one day longer, just so we get to see Granlund play.

I see Granlund with much higher upside than Horak. If hes part of a transaction it better be for a top tier player.
