a few of mine

Stepping on perfectly clean ice and cutting the first grooves with your skates

Skating in an empty arena by yourself

Hitting that perfect drive where you hear that clean sound of the ball coming off of the club. Same with hitting the ball with a bat.

That moment of absolute quiet that happens just before a big moment in sports

The smell of coffee brewing

That first sip of beer after working outside on a hot hot day

The feel of a woman's hip swaying in time to music

That moment when you totally get the water temperature perfect while taking a shower

Waking up 15 minutes before the alarm rings and just enjoying the moment

Standing outside just after the sun goes down and seeing the stars appear like a god flicking light switches

The sound a fire makes when it explodes a knot of wood

(Some people will get this) the first smoke of the day (after that its downhill)

Seeing somebody doing something well that you've taught or coached.

The two minutes after good sex where its just hearing heartbeats

The opening chord to your favorite song

A good choir singing an uplifting song

That few minutes when your on a long road trip with friends and you just stare out the window and see the world passing by and you know that you're in good company and on your way to the next great adventure.

The smell of fresh bread baking

The opening paragraph of a book that instantly draws you into the story.

(It was a dark and stormy night)

Winter walks on a clear day.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

The smell of that new vehicle you just bought.

Being the first to open a new jar of peanut butter or jam.

When you first step off the plane at your holiday destination

making the first save in a hockey game and knowing that you're going to have a good game.

playing the first song of a set and nailing it.

First tee time off in the morning.

First sip of coffee.

Standing in an empty classroom two minutes before the bell waiting for my students to arrive.

Lots of retread here:

- First cup of coffee
- The crackle of a fire in the fireplace on a cold day
- The view from a mountain peak
- Fresh turns in deep powder
- The smell after a thunderstorm
- The smell of bacon
- A good walk with my dog
- Used to be Saturday morning cartoons, back in the Beetlejuice, Tailspin, Smurf days.

I don't know if this is simple or not, maybe slightly cheating.. but the sunrise over the mountains this morning. Just waking up and seeing that light purple/pink hue over the Rockies as you wake up and just standing there looking at it until it goes away.

putting on wool socks right after trimming your toenails
making someone else laugh REALLY hard
that little blue bolt of electricity when a C-Train passes a wet/exposed bit of line
hearing your watch ticking
building a model and having time stand still
the burn from a good Scotch
