Name 7 Canadian defensemen playing definitively better than him right now. I don't think you can.
He's first in points per game among Canadian defensemen.

wow, I knew he was having a good year, but looks to be 2nd in the league for defense men points per game. 17 for 19gp behind Karlsson's 37 for 39gp.
Great captain. +1 on Calgary is non to shabby either.
Makes me wonder how much of the hard working Flames rep the team is earning is from the captain, and how much the coach.

Agreed and probably a big reason he is no longer working for the Flames.

Sorry, I never do this, but I have to speak up as I see this on this board a lot: it's mind-boggling, not bottling.

I don't get it, there was no sarcasm in his post...
Not going to hijack this thread though, carry on. Gio for President.

Haha! It's all good. I actually meant to add a smiley to my original post. Some guy a few months ago wrongly used the term 'mind-bottling' and it just kind of took off. A lot of posters use it now just to be funny. (Sorry. I really did not mean to come across as a dick)

I have actually heard that Yzerman is a pretty big Giordano fan for what it's worth

The only problem I can see with choosing Giordano is that he doesn't have much team Canada international experience. He's playing great for us though, maybe one of the Flames very best going back to when the team arrived in Calgary.

One thing gio has going for him is that he can play all situations. Whatever role he would be asked to play, you can be confident that he won't hurt your team.

I know this isn't going to be popular but I wouldn't mind seeing Gio dealt while his value is at an all time high. To Philly for Schenn and Laughton or something.

"Unpopular" would be about 5 steps up from where you are on that one at "bat crap crazy".
He is as untouchable to this team as it gets.

Our franchise player is not going anywhere anytime soon. He is the captain and leader of our hockey team. His hard work, dedication and winning attitude is what you want to build a team around.

If we have young, impressionable talent, why wouldn't we want to have good players to teach them?

When I first joined here, I thought you were a bit more moderate. Lately though you've been thanking the most ridiculous posts and making a few head scratchers of your own. You ok? Everything good?
That trade is brutal, but putting that aside, you don't trade your captain and the biggest difference maker your team has just 'because'.
