Jets are awful. Flames will be the second highest western Canadian team by the end of the season.

Wouldn't it be funny if Noel got fired on Christmas?

That looked like a high stick to me.

Oil up 5-2 with half a period left. At least the Flames won't have to give them the mercy win on Friday now.

In South Florida for a vacation, so took the kids to the Bolts - Panthers game. Terrible game to watch. Dead atmosphere in the rink, but can't complain about 5th row corners for less than $50.

"This is a kid that is developing a knack to score goals."

And with one game, all of Edmonton's problems have been swept under the rug.

You're safe now, Lowe. You're safe.

What are the odds that Noel gets fired on Noel?

Noooo!
Why did the linesman step in and stop Little from pounding Yakupov into a jam smear?

So, the Oilers best games this season have come after getting called a junior team in Montreal, and after a fan threw a jersey on the ice and Eakins threw a hissy fit?

Apparently, the answers are anywhere but inside the room.

6-2, under 4 minutes left, and the Oilers' number one PP unit is on the ice for a 5 on 3.

This is why I hate Edmonton.

Eakins weirdly stares at Noel who doesn't even glance back. Yakupov swings meekly from behind a scrum. Ference and Justin Schultz lose a wrestling match with Bogosian.

What a bunch of powder puffs

What in the blue hell are these Oilers commentators talking about?!

"You've gotta admire Yakupov, he's not afraid to swing the stick!"

What???

I'll forgive all of Principe's stupid puns if he says, "It is not a Joyous Noel in the Winnipeg room right now".

And why does the PA guy have to announce how many points each player has when doing the goal call?

Yakupov is a punk.

Oilers send out their #1 pp on a 5 on 3 up 6-2 with a couple minutes left to play. Classy.

Both are these are related. When you build your team like a fantasy team, points matter, not wins.

I'm loving this. The Oilers need a win like this ever so often so their fans forget for a moment. When you're smashing a body into the ground, you can't just keep applying downward force, sometimes you have to lift it up so you can bring it crashing down again.

Gotta remember that the oilers need to win once in a while so they don't do anything crazy like fire Lowe or anything like that.

It sure would have been a sweat Xmas gift to have them go into the break on a 7 game losing streak though.

After asking my brother (Oilers fan) if he's given up, here's his response:

" Washington rebuild: 8yrs
Chicago rebuild: 7yrs
LA rebuild: 8yrs
Pittsburgh: 9 yrs
Oilers since drafting hall: only 4 yrs. Dallas Eakins says we can't give up like the fan that threw the jersey."

And the Oilers celebrate like its 1985. What a train wreck of a franchise.

Jamie Benn is the new Jarome Iginla.

Through 2 periods vs. the Kings he's got 3 points and just had a great scrap with Regehr. Even with the slow patch he had in early December, he's got to be on Team Canada IMO

On the LA feed, they showed a slow-mo shot of Benn connecting square into Regehr's face.

Left the ice a bloody mess.
