Judging by Burke's history when he joins a new team, he'll pick up a couple of big bottom-6 wingers for draft picks or lower level prospects. He'll also grab a bigger physical defender. (Burke may have already done this depending on his influence over the MacDermid and Smid deals).
I expect a play for Jake Gardiner at some point. I think Mark Fraser is a D Burke May sign in the off-season.
Before the deadline at least one vet will be moved as a retained salary transaction.
I think there will be a big splash in the summer. Either signing Phaneuf to a deal or making a huge deal to ensure the Flames get Ekblad in the draft.

Why would he acquire a goalie he said Gilles is a legit prospect he is very high on him, and to give up prospects to get one?

I would not be surprised if Cammalleri / Stajan / Stempniak is moved but not for picks but for some team that needs cap room and a young big contract comes back to the Flames.
The Flames are one of the few teams that have room to take back cap room.
The Jets really are motivated to make the playoffs this year and Kane is not contributing.
They could use Cammalleri to take Kane's spot on the second line and Stajan as an upgrade on Jokinen.
Kane for Cammalleri and Stajan and a prospect Rienhart is a better return than Cammalleri for the 20th-25th pick over all and Stajan for a 2nd.
Maybe keep Rienhart and include Baertschi or Backlund and get back the Jets 2014 1st round pick.
A similar sort of deal that Burke pulled to get Phanuef.

Re-signs Stempniak to a 3 year extension.
Trades Stajan to the Leafs for a draft pick.

A youngish centre with B grade upside (Stajan): Backlund, though he is not as accomplished as Stajan was
A small scoring D (White): Russell
A journeyman 4th liner (Mayers): Bouma (to make up for Backlund)
In return he gets his key piece plus B grade prospect (Aulie) and energy guy (Sjostrom)
So Hudler, Backlund, Russell and Bouma for Kane (or equivalent) + crap. That's what a Burke trade could look like, and it might end up a win for the Flames

Monahan Kane and Baertschi/Gaudreau would be a legit #1 line for the next 5 years.

Very true! Also it doesn't make sense to trade him in the AHL. His value will be low and not fetch too much. Baertschi will be back wearing the flaming C before the trade deadline.
Also I think he will make a big move for a young righthanded D and a RW prospect

The Sedins, the Niedermayers, the Schenns. He loves to see brothers on the same team. I say he trades with the Islanders to acquire Griffin Reinhart, and sends Markus Granlund to Minnesota.

I agree with that breakdown of the phaneuf trade and the player equivalents with this team. I know lots of people think today that the flames didn't get what they should have for phaneuf but I also remember how many people at the time thought that Toronto had given up a lot to get him... basically their entire forward core (aside from kessel) and that they wouldn't be able to score after that. Scoring didn't end up being a problem... They brought in bozak and he became a good fit with kessel.
I could see this trade proposal being very similar. The only difference is that the flames at the time were still battling for a playoff spot and were desperate for some secondary scoring after a 9 game losing streak. For a trade like this to happen again, the jets would have to be desperate for immediate help just like the flames were at the time. Unless the jets go on a run right away, the cost to get guys like Kane, byfuglien, or wheeler will be draft picks and prospects rather than veterans that can provide scoring depth.

Burke trades Stajan and Stempniak to the Leafs for Phaneuf. Cap issues will prevent the Leafs from signing Phaneuf long term.

Breen seems on the surface to be the type of player Burke covets. You would think he would at least want to take a good look at what he can do as he hasn't had much of a shot so far. SOB hasn't been terrible but he is what he is and it wouldn't hurt to put in Breen for a few games to get a better evaluation.

I could really see Burke pushing hard for Jake Gardnier 6-2 184lb defensmen who Burke drafted in Anaheim and traded for in Toronto. If I were to take a guess as to why he was in Toronto tonight it could be Gardnier, once the trade freeze is lifted could be his first move.Gardnier seems to be having trouble being a regular in Toronto if they are hoping to go on a playoff run maybe they would be interested in a guy like Cammy.

Even if Burke intends to trade Sven, from an asset management perspective the demotion is a good thing. Let him regain form and pile up stats in the AHL, return to the NHL for a few games and hopefully ride the momentum to put up a few good games.
Maybe it turns out he finds motivation in all 3 zones and ends up worth keeping, but if he is to be traded, this is a a lot more productive than letting him spin his wheels with the big club. It should improve his trade value.
That is a simple move that could have been expected of Feaster
