Man I hope they manage to hang on to him. It seems weird that Camilo would be so ansy to leave, but maybe he's getting a bigger contract offer.
It is definitely about money. I'd be the first to argue that he is worth more than his $250k salary (relatively speaking). But apparently Lenarduzzi is saying that they didn't even get the chance to talk about it yet. He's still under contract for the upcoming season, according to the Whitecaps, unless there's a loophole or clause of some sort.
A club signing a player that's still under contact could (and should) get the player, agent, and club penalized in some way. If that is indeed what happened, I'd expect the MLS to go to FIFA and they'll have to be some sort of penalty and compensation.
Either way, I can't see Camilo coming back to Vancouver. He'll probably just not report and/or the club will trade away his rights. This has to sour the relationship beyond repair, even if he is a great goalscorer.
Yup, no way Camilo sets foot in Vancouver again. Also, even though it was a very small chance that he would have suited up for the MNT, there's now no chance of that happening.
Also, de Rosario has come to terms with Toronto FC, thus making my de Rosario TFC jersey relevant again.
What a disaster. From what I've read it seems possible, or even likely, that the 'Caps will get nothing for Camilo in the end. What a way to lose a top player. Oh well, Manneh is going to be better then him anyway.
I do enjoy a good Hitler meme. I was treated to a good Norwich City one earlier this year as well that actually joked about losing 7-0 to Man City a few days BEFORE it actually happened. Brilliant.
Off my twitter that Michael Bradley to TFC....just wow!!! Very nice pick up.
Toronto F.C. is poised to make a stunning swoop for AS Roma and U.S. international midfielder Michael Bradley, multiple MLS sources confirmed to ESPNFC.com.
http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/16...y-roma?cc=5901
Other than the injury, I thought he played a lot of first team minutes at Roma. This whole thing about him not getting enough playing time really doesn't add up.
Another example of big bucks and the sea change on how players view MLS....Camilo notwithstanding. I'm excited to see TFC this year. I wonder if Defoe is still a go?

All the rumours at the moment have him on his way to Toronto at the moment with an official announcement happening on Monday. I have no idea how they can fit all of Defoe, Bradley, the new Brazilian striker whose name I've forgotten, De Rosario and Laba under the salary cap but the workings of the MLS cap are pretty foggy at the best of times. If the league likes a team they can get away with a lot.
Bradley signing with TFC would be probably the biggest signing in MLS history. If true, Laba is surely on his way out, which is a shame. I thought Laba was a damn good pick up, and one of the few bright spots last year.
It's weird that TFC is looking like the team of studs and Vancouver is the team in shambles right now.
Great signing for tfc (bradley), really surprised he came back so young, will probably anchor their team for a long time. It makes Defoe and the brazilian striker even better signings, ensuring they will get better service.
Really wonder what will happen to Laba though. I think they can find a way to restructure his contract so he can stay, they have cap room and as dps go he's not on a huge deal.
That said if they deal him they should get a very good return as well, possibly strengthen another area. I think Laba playing DM and Bradley as more of attacking central mid would be one of the better central midfields the MLS has ever had. Combined with their strikeforce and Dero and Rey on the wings, pretty impressive arsenal.

That's some good business by Toronto. Interesting to see how a couple of marquee signings can change the whole outlook around. I have always had a soft spot for Toronto as they were the first Canadian MLS team, and their fan base has really deserved better.
Closer to home, however, it isn't looking so great. As Shermanator said, Vancouver is in a bit of pickle now. After firing another coach and having trouble replacing him (hard to believe that it has been 4 in less than 4 years, technically), and now the Camilo debacle, there isn't much to get excited about.
It's going to be interesting to see how these huge signings will influence the next CBA. When one player is making 100+ times the amount of another, that can create some issues.
While not nearly as important as the other signings in terms of immediate needs, TFC have also signed 17 year old forward Jordan Hamilton to a professional deal from their academy. He has 5 goals in 11 caps with the U-17 national team, and scored 2 goals in the October U-17 World Cup.
These type of signings are very important as the development of local kids will fill in the pieces that can't be filled with $5 million dollar players. As well, giving local kids a place to play quality first team minutes is important in the development of our national team.
Man, this must be what it felt like for Chelsea fans when Abramovich arrived! Of course, they actually accomplished something once all that money was spent. Hopefully it at least turns out better than Rubin Kazan.
