I think he is a very solid young goalie and has long term NHL potential, but I think his numbers are somewhat of a product of the Kings system.

I honestly see a 400+ wins goalie in him. And 200+ shutouts.

Last night, certainly. I didn't catch the third, but the Oilers never threatened to score at all in the first two periods. Quite a bit different than his first two shutouts where he had to make a few obnoxious saves to keep his team in it.

He was very good with the Hitmen. Took them to the WHL Finals two years in a row, and the Memorial Cup in 2010. He was the WHL Playoff MVP in 2010 and on the Memorial Cup All-Star team.

He holds a bunch of Hitmen franchise records, such as most games played, most wins, most shutouts, and most playoff wins. Of course, the other names on the Hitmen goalie records list include Justin Pogge (7 NHL games), Alexander Fomitchev (0 NHL games), Dan Spence (0 NHL games), and Brent Krahn (1 NHL game), so the Hitmen haven't exactly been an elite goaltending factory. Barry Brust has played the most NHL games of any former Hitmen goalie (11), but he was only a Hitman for half a season.

In fact, Jones already has twice as many NHL wins as every other Hitmen alumni goalie in history, combined (Brust had 2 NHL wins, and Pogge had 1).

More like the Bill Ranford effect in LA, he seems to be a very good goalie coach.

I was flabbergasted when Toronto traded Rask and kept Pogge. Loved Pogge as a Hitman, but it was already obvious late in his WHL career that shooters had begun to figure him out. Professional shooters ate him alive

What is the record for the best start by a rookie goalie? I think I remember Patrick Lalime starting 9-0.

It's Lalime. He started 14-0-2 in 1996-97

The shootout asterisk notwithstanding, Jones just tied an NHL record by winning his eighth straight game to start his career. He's also 12-12 in the shootout now.

I used to argue with Leaf fans that Irving would be better than Pogge.

Years later and i'm still not sure who won that argument.
