When I watch them I can't believe they're a playoff team. The get outplayed badly very often and yet come away with a win. I'm not trying to be facetious, but I don't buy the hype that they are a playoff team or even have anyone in their future to get them there. I see them going on a long downswing here as you just can't get outplayed that often and end up with points. It will even out at some point
I'd say the majority of the fans KNOW the Leafs are WORSE than their record. They have yet to play one complete game. They have stretches where they look good, but for the most part they have just been relying on a great goaltending tandem to get them points. As a Leaf fan it really is a shame because for the longest time the Leafs had really bad goaltending. Now they have two good goalies but can't play in front of them.

Most fans hate Carlyle and think he is the main problem. His lineup choices are strange. He dresses two fighters who can't do anything and then barely even plays them. He puts certain players on tight leashes (Kadri) and others can do no wrong (Fraser, Orr). If they can get a little healthier though and tighten up they could be decent. They have great speed and scoring ability.

Anyways, yes, the Leafs are lucky to be where they are right now.

Maybe Washington would trade them Grabovski for a 1st rounder?

Meh, on second though they'd probably want more than that, seeing as how he's on pace for about 70 points.

God I'm amazed at how stupid the Leafs organization can be sometimes.

Careful with waiting for your team to play a complete 60 minutes, as the other teams are trying to as well. Twenty nine other fan bases are asking for a full 60 minutes, but inconsistency is is consistent in every teams' games.

Agreed with the scoring though as they seem to score at will. I don't think their shooting percentage is a fluke, but the chances for vs against seem way too stacked against to mean anything but failure over 82 games IMO.

Do the Leafs have a more positive future? Is there hope in the farm? If not, yikes that could be bad

The good thing is that lots of teams will be in the market for a guy like stajan. And the longer the avalanche stay in the playoff race, the less likely they are to trade away either of their upcoming free agent centres stastny or o'reilly. That means stajan could be one of the best and affordable centremen available at the deadline. I'm not against keeping stajan cause I like what he brings every game but the return might be too good to turn down.

It would be pretty hilarious if Stajan went back to the leafs...

With the Leafs defensive ineptitude, Carlyle seems desperate for Fraser to be like he was last year, rather than the 6/7/AHL guy he probably actually is.

But he also seems to like to give really long leashes to certain guys. Fraser, Ranger, Kostka last year

And for a while (if not still) his 4th line was getting less than 5 minutes per game.

While I appreciate the irony of turning our 4th into a 2nd, I would be disappointed to give up on Joe now. I have high hopes for him.

Of course for the optics alone, TO would never do this, so no worries.

You talking about the D.Sutter days? Cause I thought that worked out fairly well for Calgary.

Nope. Darryl's teams never hung out their goaltenders out to dry. I also don't recall too many people complaining about strange lineup choices. Nice try though.
