Not even upset at this one, saw a lot of good things that hinted to a bright future.

Too bad we couldn't see the usual Bordeleau v McGrattan fight though.

Seriously this crap about our guys being scared to make mistakes has to stop. If they are that fragile then they should get off the ice because they aren't nhl'ers.

Yup, this is the first full game I've watched in a few weeks and besides one or two flashes all I noticed from him was being knocked down and muscled off the puck fairly easily. Give him a year or two to add some muscle and adapt to the NHL style and he should be fine in a few years.

I don't think Stempy has been bad at all for the most part, actually. His skating is pretty good considering he recovered from a broken foot relatively recently. He's still forechecking like a demon too.

He's really suffered some pretty bad puck luck since his return from the IR, which has made him look alot worse than he's been playing. Just needs a few good bounces to go his way to reward the effort he often puts in.

Sure, he had a few really bad turnovers and looked pretty bad against the Panthers, but all-in-all, he's been a good bit better than the numbers and plus-minus will say.

I honestly feel bad for Sven. People have such high expectations from him after that first call-up he had. Now if he doesn't produce immediate results people go nuts. And God forbid the coaching staff actually try to work with and develop him, because if he gets sat like any other kid does, people go off on Hartley. It's a lose-lose for the kid. Should we just go Oilers style, hand him the world then stamp our feet and cry when it doesn't work? Nobody cares if Blair Jones gets sat, but Baertschi is untouchable?

If that's the real case he has no spot in this league.

Stempniak has been marginally bad for 10 games since coming off IR, and some people are calling for his head.
Glencross was absolute garbage for 15 games, but it was only a slump and he'll bounce back.

I'm not trying to defend Stempniak. IMO they should both go, but they both need to be held to the same standard.

Stumpy, even though I am a big Stajan fan.

For me, it all comes down to the fact that the Flames have more depth at centre and some promising up-and-coming young centres waiting in the wings to make the NHL jump, whereas the team's still much weaker at the RW.

So, keep Stumpy, trade (or don't re-sign) Stajan.

Personally I would be happy if it appeared that there was a development plan for Sven. AHL, NHL sent up sent down, as long as its part of a long term plan to develop him. Maybe there is a plan, but its not obvious to fans. Now it just seems like its expected that he be awesome, and if he isn't, it becomes a really negative situation. When a situation becomes negative its tough to come back from.

Russell's got as many points as Iginla now so that's something.

Edit: looks like Hudler got the assist now instead of Russell, so I guess nevermind...
So Russell isn't going to the Olympics?

I know not everyone is a hardcore hockey fan, but people who call up and ask questions on Overtime that are easily searchable online grind my gears.

"Hey Pat, when did Sean Monahan get drafted? Hey Pat, where's Joey McDonald these days?"

Come on, it's not 1990 anymore. Stop asking stupid questions that you can find out for yourself in 5 seconds.

Q: What kind of explanation did you get from the referee regarding the Baertschi non-call?

Well, it was definitely complete bull****.

There will be games like this.

Just go home, get some rest, and come back and boot-**** the Oilers tomorrow night.

The result was a shame, but that was a fun one to watch.

I'm really liking the d corps with Giordano, Wideman, Brodie, and Russell. The puck movement is fantastic.

Sven has some pretty obvious confidence issues. I think he'll be in the AHL by Xmas if this keeps up, and that's for the best.

Anyway, tomorrow should be a goodun.

Best d man out there tonight by a mile. If you can re-sign him now, you do. Without even thinking about it.

And I'm finally on the "Let's put Butler on a ship to nowhere" side. Ugh.

And boys...PLEASE, just beat the Oilers.

Byron and Sven both need to go down. Sven needs to work on his legs because he gets knocked off the puck to easy and Byron just doesn't have the stuff period we should bring someone else up.
