The only retaliation I want to see is as many hard clean hits on him as we can muster. Doing something stupid will just cause us to be short handed and could cost us the game, not worth it IMO. A fight without an instigator would be fine as well.
Make him pay within the context of the rules. With clean hits and on the scoreboard.

Sad that the most likely guy, Jackman, did nothing and was dispatched.
Is it reasonable for MacDermid to answer for something that didn't happen on his watch?

The way most teams figured out on how they can beat the Oilers is through hard, aggressive physical play. Just make life miserable for them. If Ference tries to change momentum at that point, you beat him down then. Won't look so bad when McDermid grabs him by the scruff of the neck if it comes to that.
Just make life miserable for their top 6 - you send the message, and you get a win. Really hope McGrattan plays - not so much because he will tune anyone on the team, but I love the times he just starts skating hard and lines guys up with crushing checks against the boards. They are all clean (which is part of the reason I love them - not late, not dirty, and not intent to injure type of plays, but just really hard), but I swear you can see the panic in their faces when they see him coming.

I think it happens. When the Flames acquired McGrattan for his first stint in Calgary, he ended up going after Cam Janssen. Cam had beat up Prust and had broken his jaw the season before, and this was their first matchup. Funny enough though, Prust fought him later in the game. I always thought Cam was dirty, but he answered the bell twice for that incident.
It does happen, but I wouldn't expect it to. I think McDermid will only go after Ference if Ference tries something he shouldn't again.

I sincerely hope that Lee Stempniak beats seven shades of s**t out of Andrew Ferrence.
Anything else is ghey.

How about a giordano vs. ference fight? Captain against captain with giordano winning the fight by a land slide.

The lack of a response at the time sent out the wrong message. I won't be upset if someone does decide to feed Ference his own teeth, but the time for doing that has passed.

Steamroll ference at every opportunity but only if it doesn't compromise the team. If he pulls another stunt like last game I hope McDermid takes him to the cleaners.

The days of the 'Okotoker' getting a free pass are over.
I guess, feed him his teeth...they are organic anyway.

He should, but not with this team. We are butlersoft!
I hope Ference tries this crap against the Bruins. Lucic and Chara would make him drink milkshakes outta a straw for 2 months.

If Glennie was healthy, I'd love to see a middleweight tilt with him and 'Andy' - that could go 12 rounds.

The Oilers have gone 6-2 since Ferrence beat the crap out of Stempniak. Ferrence not only turned that game around he may have turned the Oilers season around.
Since the Oilers have the last line change I wouldn't be surprised to see Ferrence lined up against Stempniak to warn him not to dare hit anyone (not like Stempniak really needs the warning) or risk losing the rest of his teeth.
If Stempniak 5-11 196 (Ferrence 5-11 187) is half the leader/mentor on this team that a lot of CP posters suggest he should be going after Ferrence the same way Gio went after Dustin Brown.
If Stempniak does not get 2 -3 good hits on Ferrence he should lose his place in the line-up.

By far the worst suggestion I've seen on CP forums since Rerun's "Drouin for Cammalleri" trade.

You would prefer that Stempniak play scared and set that as a example for the re-build?
Are you saying that Stempniak's first line minutes and 3rd/4th line scoring are too valuable an asset for the lottery pick Flames?
It is not like I am wanting Stempniak to go out and drop the gloves with Ferrence on the opening face off (Like Iginla would do in the same situation) or go after someone who clearly is physically dominant.
This team is asking Backlund and Baertschi and Monahan to play big against big tough NHL players and Stempniak somehow does not have to stand up for himself?
Did you see the much concussed Crosby going after Chara???
If Crosby (Stempniak sized) most skilled player in the world can man up and go after Chara why does Stempniak get a pass after Ferrence spanked him.

LOL
Not sure what Ference fighting Stempniak had to do with Berra allowing a god awful goal or how it forced the Avalanche to no show last night.
But have seen people try to make huge stretches with these things before and certain posters try to make something out of nothing made up stats so can't say I am surprised.

6 wins out of 8 games for the Oilers is not a made up statistic.
The Oilers were 4-16-2 and about to go 4-17-2 before Ferrence said enough getting pushed around. Why are we taking hits from wimpy guys like Stempniak? He was fed up and not going to take it any more. He showed the kids on his team that you have to stand up and push back. That is what leaders do.
Is Stempniak a leader?

Also probably the worst idea ever on Crosby's part, in hindsight. Terrible example.

Because that's what an enforcer on a team is supposed to do. It was a clean hit and Stemp got jumped for it while McGrattan just watched. Do you expect Cammy or Hudler to drop the gloves too if he takes a dirty play? So stupid.
Anyways, now that MacDermid's in the lineup, expect him to be the first one to ring Ference's bell.

1) your ability to cherry-pick stats in order to support some obscure and misguided premise is unrivaled on CP
2) the irony of this ridiculous post is that it was actually a crushing hit by Stempniak on Ference that started the incident. Also, Stempniak stood up for himself and fought Ference despite the fact that he didn't want to and shouldn't have had to.
