I think I see an electric wall mount fireplace in a $10M condo. Surely they could have splurged and built in a gas fireplace.
Very oldschool design and furnishing, going for that oil exec cowboy buyer for sure.

So I am not from Calgary, would this be the dwelling of a Yop gobbler or a Latte sipper?

This is the case of a yop gobbler who is so rich that he's managed to build a tacky ranch inside the boundaries of latte-sipping territory.

It's like the Yop Gobbler just can't win. Even when the mega rich Yop Gobbler tries to appease the latte sippers by buying a condo, doing inner city living, reducing their impact on urban sprawl, not using interchanges, or ring roads and they still can't get it right.

If the mega rich yop gobbler can't appease you what are the chances the rest of us can.

It's lose lose with these latte sippers.

Guess his pretentious meter wasn't high enough to qualify him as a latte sipper huh?

A source on SSP said that this was a second home for someone who lives in an acreage, so it' doesn't really do those things.

Technically it does. It's the ULTIMATE version of doing those things. You can't be a Yop Gobbler if you live outside the city on an acreage!! You have to live in the city.... Geez, you guys are just brutal.

Plus acreages outside the city limit sprawl as they create a boundary from which sprawl and Yop Gobblers cannot break through.

It's beyond hideous. That marble in the kitchen is just horrible.

Despite all the stereotypes about rich, old O&G yahoos, are there seriously people who would look at that place and go "Wow! This is so me!"?

It looks like a scene out of Dallas. The original series. Cliff Barnes would have given anything to be able to show up those Ewing boys with a swank pad like that.

Absolutely the worst $10 million place I have ever seen.

I think rural/exurban dwellers and those in the satellite communities need different classifications than Yop Gobbler. To me, Yop Gobbler is suburban, but within the boundaries of the city.

Thoughts?

As the region becomes bigger, I think you'll start to see more and more of the second home downtown thing. Which, is not a bad thing. This one's style is a bit odd, but whatever. There could be no such thing as good taste, if there weren't bad taste.

Man, whoever owns that must not like any downtime. The place looks like a hideous boardroom from the 80's.

I don't think I can afford the condo fees to live there let alone buying it.

Don't folk who live outside the boundaries yet continue to use city services get the parasite label? Since he's selling his inner city condo, he isn't paying city property taxes anymore so he could be a parasite

What kind of liquids do rich hicks partake in?

Budweiser, at least from the admittedly non-scientific sample of my two rich hick uncles.

It's like a combination of that, Dynasty, Falcon Crest and Knots Landing all rolled into one. Did they hire some 89 year old set decorator out of Hollywood?

Yeah, I thought the term was parasite, or tax dodger.
