And my night is now ruined. It is amazing that they have at least 40 shots against them for several games now.

Niederreiter has been looking pretty good in Minnesota. 15 points in 29 games, and is a +7. Not necessarily stellar numbers, but shows how the Islanders were wasting his talent the last couple seasons.

Meanwhile Clutterbuck has been mostly invisible in New York, and his style obviously is more suitable out west.

Not garden variety shots either. To quality chance after quality chance. They even had a goal disallowed

It is those years where they were bad but not low enough to get the top end talent that have left them with meh or bust guys and little play-off games to show for it.
That's just not true. I count 8 teams that had more than one top 3 pick within a couple years since 2000 (9 if you go back to 99 and include the Canucks). Only 2 have won cups (Chi, Pitt), and one team did it twice and hasn't gotten anywhere (Fla). Unless you're drafting Crosby, you need a lot more than a couple bad years. Since the lockout, 7 teams have won the Cup. Only 2 had multiple top 3 picks.

It's just not true, yet I hear it again and again.

Rebuilding is necessary. Tanking is a bad idea

Where is the automatic 2 minute penalty to Gadzic for fighting with a visor against someone who didn't have one on? Or the instigator?

Also, is Gadzic the only goon in hockey that wears a visor?

They got rid of that penalty when they made visors mandatory for all new NHL players. Gadzic had zero NHL games played prior to this season, so he's required to wear a visor.

Thanks that clears up, well everything! That was a dumb penalty anyways. Still could have given him the instigator after the clean hit. Hate those fights.

Oilers are now only 16 points out a playoff spot! I think it's time they trade off their first rounder for some much needed help. It's a shame they didn't get in on the Vanek sweepstakes, or that Miller turned down a trade there. MacT seems desperate enough to mortgage the future in a vain attempt to try and get in the playoff hunt.

Hard to believe Patrick Roy pulled a Mario Tremblay and left Varly in for all eight goals tonight.

My Oilers fan co-worker texted me bragging about the game. I guess they should start planning the parade. Then again, a lap of Commonwealth doesn't take that much planning.

This is why I'll never feel bad for that fanbase. They have zero humility and the memories of goldfish.
