Bob Hartley is a good talker. Polar opposite of Darryl Sutter who let his coaching do the talking.

Am I the only one who reads Hartley interviews in his accent?

I can't not do it..

I've got my suspicions EE that you don't like Bob Hartley very much. I could be wrong though. This isn't the first time you have voiced your displeasure though about Mr. Hartley.

I read that in green text.

I can't believe people compare Berra to goaltenders like Quick & Kipper. You guys do realise his save% is around 0.900? Or less. Take off your calgary glasses, if Berra was a canuck, leafs or an oiler you would have counted him out already. I'm not saying he can't improve, but what do you guys see in him? I see a guy who cracks when pressure is on, which leads to weak game losing goals.

No, that's just part of the process. Sometimes people don't get that. In Calgary, you get the feeling, it was the end of the world, when he doesn't play.
He must read CP.

I would say it's less that he cracks and more that he just isn't very good. But six of one, half a dozen...

Pretty early yet.
Last year's #1 had an. 882 save PC and a 3.44 GAA with a lot more talented team and D in front of him.

We see size, athleticism, good reflexes.

He needs to just calm his game down. Concentrate on staying a tad deeper in his net. His problem right now is overcommitting. It's something he can fix IMO.

He looks way, way more promising than Karlsson ever did.

His second full season in the NHL with the Sharks, when he had no reputation to fall back on, he had a 3.44 GAA and a .879 save PC.

Like I said, it is early yet.

And how many goalies put up terrible numbers and washed out of the league? How many comparables do you want me to list? You wanna base the future on what, 1000 to 1, 10,000 to 1?

The future of the Flames will be based on solid asset procurement, development and evaluation.

They just procured Berra, have just started to work on his development and there is an ongoing evaluation on what he will become.

For the third time, it is early yet.

He should do it somewhere else! It's not that early, but I'm glad you can count.

There is no way you nor I know how good Berra, Ramo, Ortio, Gillies or any other goalie the Flames end up acquiring.

Flames gave up on a few gems already who didn't exactly shine early on. Yes, Berra and Ramo both look like they are shaky at times, and solid in others. This is a rebuilding team, with below average defence and below average ability throughout its' ranks. Now is the time to try out a few commodities and see if they improve, before expending assets to find another one.

You may not think either of them have what it takes to become a decent goalie in this league. Obviously the scouts feel otherwise. Obviously Hartley feels otherwise. Lots of posters feel otherwise too.

I myself am keeping an open mind. I would rather the Flames ride out Berra and Ramo (and hopefully give Ortio a few games as well) and just see what happens over time. There is no big hurry to rush out and find a goalie to steal the team some games. If neither of these goalies do not work out, I would assume the Flames will then look to sign whatever vet they feel comfortable with in the off-season, or eventually trade for a goalie at some point.

Too small of a sample size to either proclaim Berra and Ramo as legitimate starters, or to throw them away as junk either.

How do you feel about the Flames (Feaster/Hartley's) ability to handle these duties?

I had the feeling Hartley would have sent him down a long time ago if he wasn't happy with Baertschi. I think Hartley is just trying to teach him what it means to be a pro not taking anything for granted. I know from the outside it looks like he is getting benched but I think Hartley may be taking a more patient approach. The last game he benched Baertschi his dad was in town; Quite posible Hartley wanted Baertschi to spend some time with his dad and of course Byron came in and did a great job.
