Yea, retiring the numbers of two of the most important players in franchise history is definitely a horrible idea.
I do agree MacInnis should have had his jersey retired, but just because it didn't happen doesn't mean they should never retire a jersey again.

Good for Iginla to anticipate coming back for old times sake. To me, that's what Iginla is though ... the past. I won't be cheering for him when he comes back to the Dome, he's a Bruin now. I won't be booing him either.

I hope he gets a nice ovation the first time he hops over the boards and then the Flames proceed to trounce them. He deserves some recognition but he also needs to know we were always Flames fans first.

I hope Agostino or Hanowski turns out. If neither of them turns out better than Bartkowski/Khoklachev then it will tarnish my thoughts about Iginla. What a crappy ending to his career here, forcing his way to PIT instead of BOS and then signing with BOS next summer. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Meh. We got a lot of sucking ahead of us to do so we should be able to get some studs regardless.

True. But that does nothing to change the fact that Iginla's last action as a Flame was to force the Flames to accept an inferior deal for him. It definitely has tarnished his reputation for me.

Meh, like he said, he was looking for his best chance to win a cup as his career winds down. And Pittsburgh had won in insane amount games at the time and were the hottest team going into the playoffs.
Can't fault him for what he did. Great guy, loved his time here and it'll be really special to see him at the Dome next week.

It sucks because he ended up without a cup and in Boston anyway. Having said that he used his NMC that he had at his disposal.
Klimchuck is a key player in that deal and there is a chance he would not have been there at 29 where the Bruins pick was?
I hope there are Iggy chants throughout the game. My fav player of all time

Hard to say if it was really an inferior deal. Khoklachev is the name prospect and flashier, but he's also a KHL flight risk.
I've been happy with Hanowski's progress and Agostino is a bit of a wildcard. Hanowski is putting up similar first year pro numbers to Khoklachev, granted he's an older prospect, but Hanowski also is a bigger player and could likely provide greater utility overall than the Russian who is a scorer or bust.
I was not interested in Bartkowski at all.
Back on topic though, regardless of how Iginla played before he left, he deserves a standing ovation, and if he scores, i'd probably cheer too.

I hold no hard feelings towards Iggy whatsoever, do what you have to do to win the Cup Jarome.

Ken King has already explicitly stated that they will not retire any more jerseys, just Forever a Flame them.

I have to be in stupid meetings in Saskatoon all next week. So I can't go. Pretty pissed off about it actually. Tried my hardest to get out of it.

He had to play for a lot lousy coaches too. Maybe you feel short changed, but he was also given a NMC which gave him the right to choose. Just because you don't like it has nothing to do with it. Moreso, if Feaster actually put together a decent team around Iginla than it is more than likely he would still be playing for us.

I don't hold a grudge at all, he had a NTC for a reason and it was his right to choose. Besides Klimchuk may not have been there at #29 and he looks like a great prospect.

I agree with this...nice cheer at the start of the game but after that he can go pound sand since he is playing for the enemy. I may be in the minority but I could care less if the guy wins a cup or not. Iggy did a lot for the city but really the team had one good run in all the years he was here and the last 5 or so seasons left a really bad taste in my mouth especially in retrospect when you think about the effort or lack there of.
