I was thinking about this more. There still aren't many people that use twitter or CP. How many people are on CP at once? 1000? 2000? I think we are still in the minority. And believe it or not there is always someone watching a hockey game for the very first time.
As an experiment today...none of us really watch curling right? Yes we can go online to check out who is playing in the olympic trials but at noon there will be a 30 minute pregame. Watch that and see if it's useful or not

You're arguing for something that's already there though. When NFL Sunday stations do their pregame, it's before the early games. The doubleheaders don't really get a show since games finish right when they're about to start. If there's a bit of a break in between, that time is used to recap games. CBC HNIC between game pregame functions exactly the same as CBS/FOX between game pregame.
There's no need for a half hour setup for the next game when that can be done in the show prior to the first game, and a quick setup prior to puck drop for the second game.
Need more press conferences with the coach. You only see it sometimes on the NHL network, or that other weird sports' channel. I want to see the coach's comments and hear the reporter's questions. I don't care much for the HNIC post game commentary, except for the afterhours segment. But more coach press conferences would be sweet.
yes and what did it have to do with the Flames? nothing.
The Flames get their own before the game anyway. But as CMPunk said, it's was a marquee matchup, and more history focused considering what took place this past week.
Really only a post game conference with the coaches comments, maybe some player comments, and some quick analysis/wrap up on what we just would be ideal.
I suspect we see this when Snet ramps things up next year.
However, Sportsnet needs to do these ASAP... a perfect role for Kerr on the broadcast, leaving pbp for those with the NHL experience required.
I would love more post game content. Even here on CP the level of actual discussion has dropped lately.
I would like to see two post game threads (well 3).
PGT for posting GIFs and just uttering one line cliche's ("Great game" "Woo!" etc.)
and a post game discussion thread where people actually discuss the game and how players played.
Game takes are good, but they come a day or so later and those threads are more for discussing the article.

There is room for a good pre-game show, look at what the NFL has. There is pre-games on 4 networks. If they did it correct and covered all of the games, not just the Leafs or Habs, even the US teams.
Agreed with the thread. I especially don't get people that complain about the hosts on the Fan 960. (Why listen to that, what are you hoping to hear, isn't there a FM radio station with a genre of music you like?)

Depending on your browser there are scripts/addons that can block the images you're sick of seeing.
I really like the PGTs the way they are. It's a good mix of celebration/mourning and analysis. Let's face it, making a designated "Put GIFs here" thread kills that aspect of the forum.

Pre/post game shows would be a perfect opportunity for Sportsnet to do what they need to do in order to be credible: become truly national and not Toronto-centric.
If they can create a pre or post (or both) game show that is NHL focused (like the NFL) instead of regionally biased, like we have now, that would go a long way towards them building credibility and this deal becoming a step forward for them and the NHL.
