I hope we traded Anaheim's 6th and not ours. That saves us roughly 25 spots in the draft.

Truculent. But how dare we trade a 6th round pick for someone? Dammit it's just like when we traded a 5th round pick for that Russell bum. I bet that 6th round pick turns into a Henrik Zetterberg type player for Dallas. Plus this probably means Sven gets benched again. Let the young guys play.

Also for people asking why we didn't claim him on waivers, i'd assume it's because we didn't want to lose out on our spot (which is probably 4th?) on a player like this. They would rather put in a claim on a better player if one was to ever go on waivers.

Pretty much, except this guy can actually win a fight. Not a bad move by Feaster if you ask me.

If he was on waivers, why did we trade a 6th rounder?

Wow, that 6th was really burning a hole in Feaster's pocket.

it's just a sixth round pick, so why not add the size? he's young and big and seems like a 3rd or 4th line banger...don't think it's too big of a deal either way.

and Phaneuf answered the question of why not pick him up on waivers.

With a meaner streak too and willing to step up for teammates. If Macdermid was on the ice when Ference tried to jump Stempniak, Ference would've been in for a very miserable night.

I don't mind it, and it does have a bit of Burke feel to this. Jackman wasn't doing squat to be an enforcer and McGrattan did only his scripted dances.

MacDermid was picked by Boston when Weisbrod worked for the Bruins.

This is a Weisbrod move.

I'm fine with that. We are still the most butlersoft team in the league. Any toughness
will help. ..... but good luck Backlund!

Can anybody from Abbotsford comment if we need more size or if the young guys down there have been getting pushed around at all?

Flames keeping busy with little moves. Could mean Jay is working the phones pretty hard and so far just getting little things done

It could be as simple as wanting the farm team to emulate the parent club exactly. Feaster did say that was the goal before and it is the staple of most successful clubs (and something the Flames had gotten away from).

Clearly the Flames see having an enforcer as a benefit. McGrattan is the guy on the big team, and I suppose MacDermid is the guy playing that roll on the farm now.

We can debate the need for an enforcer (personally, I like them), but I do think that the farm should mimic as closely as possible, the make-up of the parent team.

I presume he is going down to the heat. Hopefully he works out over time. He seems big.

As for not picking him up on waivers because they would have had to have him on NHL roster for 30 days.
