I don't think it's fair to call people who are duped, "stupid". People are duped every day about a variety of issues, not all of them are of a supernatural kind (political issues come to mind).

Humans are hardwired to be curious and creative, and in some people it manifests itself in a way to believe in things like this. I do believe it has an evolutionary origin (even if maybe becoming vestigial at this point).

Having said that, I have no problem saying that I am glad she is dead.
