They went from three divisions to two divisions in each conference. Since the total conference doesn't play the same schedule, there is weighting given to each division, being the top three teams make playoffs. Then, the rest of the teams all battle for the last two spots. Both can come from one division, or they are split 1 and 1. I don't understand what is complicated about it.

Also, with Feaster's comments at the beginning of the season that their biggest mistake was calling Baertschi up for that stint, I doubt they would want to do the same for Poirier and put unreasonable expectations on him if he succeeds.

I guess I didn't think about that first. Many injuries abound and Poirier signs. That's now my prediction

When a bunch of Flames get Tonya Harding'd, SP is my primary suspect.

I must admit I am a bit surprised just how bad Edmonton has been. I thought they would be at worst 10-11th in the west and in the mix. It is clear their rebuilding is not working the way they hoped and I love it.
The Canucks are right where I thought they would be. They are playing a similar style as well with less offence and more of a low scoring team. I expect them to remain on the bubble.
I am not shocked about the AVS. Their extremely hot start is surprising but now they are more on the playoff bubble where I expected they would be. Their young forward core is just so impressive.
Alex Steen is easily the most shocking surprise for me
Flames are where I thought they would be but are more entertaining than I anticipated

Agreed on the Flames. I did not anticipate enjoying most flames games.

Scott Cullen's quarter pole awards. At the end of the article he lists a few advanced stats leaders and trailers. Interestingly, TJ Galiardi is number one in penalty differential, which is to say he has the best percentage of penalties drawn compared to penalties taken.
