Maybe you did, but you're still bad at reading comprehension and math.
Note says $5/kid, and the note is pretty clearly for 2 kids.
So yeah, $10.

Hey, if parents give these day cares the right to have these kind of programs, and fines, then they can't be upset about it later on.
Especially since we know that educators and others get over zealous in their interpretations in these type of programs.
Personally if I saw a kid coming in with a lunch of roast beef, potatoes gravy and carrots I would be sucking up to this key member of the 1% and offering to chauffer his car.

Deluxe pizza pop:
pepperoni=meat
cheese=milk
green pepper=Vegetables
pizza dough=grains
See? Healthy goodness!

They chose to use the word "fine" too, when it wasn't a fine, just to inflame or spin the story to their target audience.
Because the readers love to hear about things that help reinforce their worldview (to answer both questions)

Article doesn't say she was upset, she was on the board that decided to implement this strategy (to comply with the government policy) and she gave the reasoning behind it. The upset is from the righteous indignation of the Sun commenters

It is clearly a licensing thing, so this requirement is not something they decided upon themselves. They did decide how to ensure compliance though.

Why is milk on the list? My kids will never drink cow milk. Who is anyone to tell me that I must give my children milk? That is ludicrous. As stated earlier in the thread, there are plenty of alternate sources of calcium and protein without the unnecessary fat.

How did the Sun even become aware of this to make it a story?

Weird non story about an agreed policy that was complied with back in December 2012 and which has now been dropped.
I use the word 'complied' liberally given that the addition of Ritz Crackers almost certainly had a negative impact upon the nutritional value of the meals.

When I heard the story the first time, I thought the "outrage" was over the fact that potatoes are considered to be part of the grains family; at least for the nutritional aspect. Isn't that the case?
That's what I got; that somebody missed that potatoes were the much healthier choice over crackers.

Man some of you have an unhealthy dislike for the Sun and its readers. Heaven forbid some people do not share your opinion on everything. It's one thing to disagree but some of you come off like elitist snobs and it just looks bad at least from my perspective the way some of go out of your way to mock them. Not sharing your opinion on all things doesn't mean all of these Sun readers are lowlife trailer trash you portray them as.

Add 'uninformed' to 'unhealthy dislike' and you pretty much have a fair idea of the world view the 'Sun' generally tries to promulgate.

I really don't think it is elitist to think someone else is an idiot because they don't use things like logic or reasoning. Unless there is some other classification that you think should be used?
I totally agree, though, not all Sun Readers are idiots, and not all idiots are Sun readers.
