Before Mayo got moved to the outside he was Simpsons replacement, we have none now. The expansion draft will happen before next training camp so no chance of finding the next guy either.

Raymond is still a top cover guy, wouldn't want to lose him either.

Lol, 61 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 int, 1 fumble recovery. Not that high.

People have to realize tackles aren't a mark of success for LBs. A guy like Sherritt in Edm gets tons of tackles because that defence is on a lot of the game and giving up 1st downs one after another. Your LBs getting a lot of tackles reflects on a poor dline.

On a team like Calgary, where the DLine was dominant and offence was good, Simpson didn't have to be amazing, just good which he was.

Still mildly surprising though.
Source? Despite his shortcomings, I think re-signing him is a no-brainer in hopes that Ottawa picks up Drew Tate, leaving you with BLM as your starter and KG as the insurance policy.

Simpson is not the worst but he's very replaceable.

  1. Arash Madani ‏@ArashMadani 4h
  2. Deciding to not tell your fan base you've extended your starting QB is absurd. But, apparently, the way of doing business in Calgary. #CFL

Stamps confirm to @Fan960Steinberg that STARTING QB Kevin Glenn signed a contract extension 2 months ago. But no announcement. #CFL #40Boats

Stampeders pending free agents:

Dimitri Tsoumpas
Anthony Parker
Mo Price
Juwan Simpson
Demonte Bolden
Cordarrow Law
Derrius Brooks
Fred Bennet
Randy Chevrier

Considering Simpson is a free agent we could just wait to sign him (and others) because Ottawa might not take impeding free agents as they could just sign back with their former team or another team.

One receiver will be gone and I think it'll be Joe West.

Gotta keep Lewis, Mcdaniel, Fuller and Price.

Good for Glenn. Lead this team basically this year, and of course last year, to top recrods with solid, unspectacular play. Price doesn't fumble on the 18 and the Stamps get within 2 points with a TD that drive, total different game, with Glenn at the helm.

Why not telling anyone is a mystery.

OL - Edwin Harrison

I think Maver is probably a lock to be picked up by Ottawa which would give us 1 more import to protect - My guess is that spot would be Mayo or McDaniel.

Protected Non-Imports (6):

RB - Jon Cornish
K - Rene Paredes
OL - Dimitri Tsoumpas
OL - Brett Jones
OL - Dan Federkeil
OL - Jon Gott

Honorable mention: Spencer Wilson, Johnny Forzani, Corey Mace, Brad Sinopoli
Now here is where it gets interesting. If they take Tate or Glenn in the 1st round, we can protect 2 more non-imports.

There are other interesting things in round 3: Member Clubs will then submit a second list of an additional six Non-Import players for protection. If a Member Club lost a Non-Import kicker or punter in the first round of the Non-Import Draft, such Member Club would submit two additional Non-Import player names for protection.

Let me know what you guys think and if I am missing anyone obvious. I could also be messing up a few things in regards to the expansion draft.
I think LB Derron Mayo will be protected over DB Brandon Smith. P Rob Maver over Jon Gott and Brad Sinopli over Federkeil.

I thought you could only protect one of Maver or Paredes?

It wasn't mentioned on the CFL Expansion Draft. I am thinking they are protected as a Non-Import. But if you thought was right, then I guess we might as well say bye-bye to Maver as Ottawa will definitely pick him unless they pick Glenn or Tate.

So Huff is no longer HC? I like this move, not because I don't like Huff as coach but because I really like him as GM.

Dickenson is now Assistant Head coach (I assume he is still OC as well). Huff is still HC

perfect solution.

Sets up the coaching transition plan. It also gets someone else doing the media scrums that Huf hates doing.

Yeah, I've heard people say that you can only protect one kicker, but I have not seen anything about it in the expansion draft rules. Not sure if it's an omission from the rules, or some misunderstanding that's been repeated so often it sounds like truth now.
