You clearly have never been at the Saddledome for an oilers game...

I think I've been there for more than most...it really upsets you hey, you might need to evaluate how you let things get to you.

Anyways, F the oilers, simple as that, I hope they lose every game.

No, I just feel that I shouldn't have to put up with that amount of being beaked in my own stadium.

Last night just showed me how truly bad the Oilers are. Good for them putting up 4 in the third, they had the game handed to them pretty much. But wow do those "Big 3" ever give up a lot of giveaways. They are a terribly built team through and through from the lines they role to the coach that roles them to the GM/management that built them.

Good for the score. We are playing without a true starter, no captain, injuries and an expectation coming into the season that we are a bottom 5 team this year. For 40 minutes the something special up in Edmonton looked like something sad and really for the most part, after a 5 year rebuild, they look as sad as they did going into said rebuild. Hopkins, Eberle, Hall, Yakupov, they all gave the puck away like it was going out of style. I'd like to see them win a game like that against a team like San Jose or Boston. It would be 8-0 by the end of the 2nd instead of what it was going into the third last night.

And you understand that it's a game of bounces right? On any given night, any team can win. But over time, good teams win more.

Heavy Jack is exactly right IMO.

As I watched that game I saw, over and over, so many examples of why that core, as they are, will never amount to anything.

They play a really bad brand of hockey.

However, if the occasional win (when they get a lucky bounce or two) keeps management on the same path, well then, keep the bounces coming!

For a while I started to slip in my hatred of the Oilers. It's as some others said, they were so bad that they were hard to hate... but then last year I saw Nail Yakupov celebrate goals in 5-1 games like he was in the playoffs. Man, instantly my HATRED was renewed. something something thousand suns something something.

The Oilers have become in recent years like the struggling younger brother who used to bother you, but now has fallen on such hard times that it's difficult to maintain a healthy hatred towards them. Personally I don't want to see them break out of their funk, but I'm not enthused by the idea of stomping on a team when they're down. Of course many fans outside of the Alberta teams seem to have no problem trashing our clubs (which I don't get, not very classy, and makes them look like complete bandwagon fans). If anything I'd show admiration for fans willing to stick behind their team during hard times. But also, I think we're gaining a great appreciation for their situation and what they've had to endure. At times I've become borderline neutral towards them. But don't get me wrong, Saturday definitely had me fuming. Their management and their circus of horrible decisions is entertaining though, as there's less reason to feel sorry for incompetent NHL GMs and front office personnel, especially when they believe they have it all figured out, but really don't.

Since the '04 lockout, it's just been far easier to hate the Canucks. Probably cause they've experienced some level of success, which has drove their fans to be far more obnoxious and in your face (than Oil fans), and the more irritating thing is they have grounds to be. And the fact that they've come close and haven't yet been able to reach a championship in their entire existence perhaps makes it more satisfying to dish the smack talk at the end of the day.
