Did someone try and slap some sense into ManRam after his latest esciapde of going inside the green monster? Maybe Many got lashed out at, got po'ed and therefore the trade request. Although I can't see why he would, I mean it looks like thats a real close clubhouse, he won the series mvp last year, he's on the defending champs. Who would take on the contract anyways considering theres no way he would ever get traded to the yanks?
could just be a rumour and nothing serious, I've only seen the score ticker so far, and with how much media attention the Sox get every day a simple well he said or I heard turns into that.

This is a deal I didn't understand at all. The Os have plenty of bats - if anything they need more pitching. Ponson isn't great but trading an arm for a bat doesn't really seem to make sense.
|
I can't understand this from the Padres point of view either. They can't possibly be satisfied with Mark Sweeney or Robert Fick at 1B. Plus, they have a solid rotation when healthy, Ponson is as mediocre as there is.

Pitching- Halladay is well Halladay. Lilly is defintley hurting right now, worthy to keep around though for next year when hopefully he's 100%. Chacin in my mind has earned himself another year as a Jay but if he can be a part to get AJ then why not. Towers is towers, and so is Walker. Bush has a ton of potential and he'll be starting next year for sure.
|
Wow, greatest post ever. Let me get this straight:
Halladay is...Halladay
Lilly is...hurting
Chacin is...goofy looking
Towers is...Towers
Walker is...Towers
Bush is...a good prospect

Let me build upon that just a little bit then B-)
Everybody now knows what there gonna get out of Halladay Walker and Towers. Theres not gonna be any performance out of them that will shock anyone, Halladay has returned to cy young form and walker and Towers will be unloaded sooner rather then later. My point was that the Jays do have 4 good pitchers to work around, with Halladay Lilly Chacin (who looked amazing last night) and Bush. Therefore it be dumb to make a move and they would be better of just signing a pitcher in the offseason.

''Saturday we have a starter now. It's as simple as that,'' Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said
They acquire a pitcher cause they need someone for Saturday?
I hate the Yankees

Phil Nevin going to Texas and Chan Ho Park going to San Diego.
What the hell is up with this trade? WHY does Texas need a first baseman, and WHY would you want Chan Ho in your rotation?

I can see this working out for both teams: Park returns to the NL where he walks a lot of people, and he plays in the most extreme pitcher's park in the MLB.
Conversely Nevin goes to the Launchpad known as Arlington, the most extreme home run park besides coors. Nevin can also Catch, and play the field.

I'm being told of a rumor of a Boston/Tampa/Mets trade that would see Manny Ramirez go to New York, Huff to Boston, prospects to Tampa (naturally) and other players involved.
Seems way too big to be plausable, however.
And yes, Ramirez did request a trade. It was in the Boston Globe a couple days ago and on ESPN.

My buddies in Oakland this afternoon called and said that they are hearing that this deal could very well happen before tomorrows deadline.
Boston gets Mike Cameron, Aaron Heilman, and Huff
Mets get Man Ram, Julio Lugo
D-rays get prospects.

Well Man Ram has been scratched form the lineup today so that deal might be done.

I meant to say Baez as well as Lugo but Jayson Stark is now reporting that Tampa is out of the deal and the Sox and Mets are trying to work a trade between themselves.
M's traded Randy Winn to the Giant for Jesse Fopert and Yorvit Torrealba.
The BoSox have also picked up Jose Cruz Jr. for the D-backs.

Well all is quiet on the trade front and the deadline has passed. No big moves, although the WhiteSox did pick Geoff Blum from the Padres for a minor league pitcher.

A couple of late moves from mlb.com
Ron Villone to the Marlins, and Kyle Farnsworth to the Braves.
From espn: Matt Lawton for Jody Gerut.
The Yanks sent Buddy Groom to the D-backs for a player to be named later.
A very quiet deadline.
